Georgia welcomes Arkansas and Oklahoma to Stegeman on Oct. 2 and 4 to wrap up the four-match homestand. Georgia defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a five-set thriller in front of a season-high 2,416 fans at Stegeman Coliseum on Sept. 19. The win lengthened the Bulldogs' win streak to five matches, and Georgia remained undefeated at home at 5-0 in 2026. Gigi Artiles' first career double-double of 26 kills and 17 digs led the match in both categories and was a career high in both. She hit .367 and added three blocks and two assists. She tallied 27.5 points for the Bulldogs. Kendal Kemp recorded a season-best 12 kills in the middle, hit .558, also a season best, and put up seven blocks to lead the team. Georgia's win in Athens was the first win by the home team in the series since Georgia Tech won in Atlanta in 2021; the visiting team had won the last four meetings. It's the first time Georgia has won back-to-back matches against Georgia Tech since 1992 and 1998.
Artiles Collects Second SEC Freshman of the Week Honor
For the second time this season, Gigi Artiles was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 21. It was Artiles' second SEC Freshman of the Week award after winning it on Aug. 31. Artiles recorded her first-career double-double in Georgia's win against Georgia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 19 with her first-career 20-kill match (26) and first-career double-digit dig match (17), which led the contest in both categories and was a season/career high in each. Her 26 kills rank eighth in a five-set match in Georgia rally scoring history, and her 27.5 points in the match ties for 10th-most in a five-set match. Artiles' 17 digs are a season-high for a Bulldog in 2026. Artiles tallied eight kills in the third and seven in the fourth. She hit .600 in the fourth.
Non-Conference Recap
Georgia concluded non-conference play with an 8-2 record. The Bulldogs' two losses came to ranked teams. Georgia's strength of schedule heading into SEC play was 35th in the country, fifth-highest in the league behind Texas, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Florida. After non-conference action, Georgia ranked third in the SEC in aces per set (1.95), seventh in hitting percentage (.268), and 10th in blocking (2.37 blocks per set). Bianna Muoneke ranked third with 4.53 kills per set and 5.13 points per set, Chloe Elarton ranked ninth with 8.89 assists per set, Ana Julia Bleeker eighth with 0.45 aces per set, Tori Harper eighth with a .400 hitting percentage, and Kendal Kemp was seventh with 1.26 blocks per set.
