First Serve
Georgia volleyball will begin its 49th season in Athens this weekend at Stegeman Coliseum, hosting the Classic City Clash. The Bulldogs will welcome North Florida, George Washington, and Furman in the six-match, round-robin tournament beginning Friday, Aug. 28.

The Bulldogs will take on North Florida at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, then will welcome George Washington that evening at 7 p.m. The tournament will wrap up when Georgia plays Furman on Saturday at 6 p.m. General admission to every match of the Classic City Clash is free.

A Look at What's Ahead
The Bulldogs are back in action for their first road test of the season as part of next week's inaugural Big Ten x SEC Challenge Week. Georgia will travel to West Lafayette, Indiana to take on No. 16 Indiana and No. 9 Purdue. Tuesday's match against Indiana will begin at 6 p.m., airing on FS1. Wednesday's match against Purdue will air on Big Ten Network at 7 p.m.

Muoneke Named Preseason All-SEC Team
Outside hitter Bianna Muoneke has been voted to the 2026 Volleyball Preseason All-SEC Team. Muoneke, from Cypress, Texas, was an AVCA All-America honorable mention last season. She was named AVCA All-Southeast Region Team and was an All-SEC First Team member. Off the court, she was named CSC Academic All-District and appeared on the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll. She graduated in December with her degree in Sociology and has started pursuing her Master's in Public Health.

Bulldogs Add Power on both pins
The Bulldogs bolstered its offensive attack on both sides of the net in the offseason. Transfers outside hitters Alyssa Worden (Iowa) and Marin Collins (Penn State) joined the Bulldogs in January and each bring a lot of fire power offensively. Freshman Gigi Artiles, traditionally an outside, will see a lot of action as an opposite this season. Fellow freshmen Taylor Bruce (opposite) and Arianna Muoneke (outside) early enrolled in January and trained with the team in the spring. Both will compete for playing time this season.

Georgia Picked Sixth in SEC Preseason Poll
Georgia was picked to finish sixth in the SEC by the league's head coaches. Kentucky was picked to win the league, followed by Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, and Tennessee. The Bulldogs were picked where they finished in 2025, in sixth place with am 8-7 record in SEC play. Georgia returns 11 student-athletes, including four starters from last season's roster. The Bulldogs added six newcomers in the offseason: two transfers and four freshmen.

Black Poised for Year 10 in Athens
Head coach Tom Black will take up the helm of the Bulldogs for his 10th season in Athens. Black has guided the Bulldogs to 147 wins, 80 in SEC play, and three NCAA Tournament appearances (2019, 2022, 2023). He is the third-longest tenured head coach in Georgia volleyball history behind Sid Feldman (1978-88) and Jim Iams (1989-99), who each served 11 seasons, and the fourth-longest tenured head coach in the SEC behind Jerritt Elliott, Craig Skinner, and Jason Watson. Assistant coach Aaron Benning and director of operations David Dantes have been on Black's staff each season in Athens.
