Georgia Earns Three Medals on Third Day of SEC Championships

ATHENS, Ga. – Three podium finishes highlighted the third day of competition for Georgia at the 2025 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships Wednesday at Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
 
Following three days of competition, both Georgia teams stand in fourth place, with the women tallying 322.5 points and the men sitting at 309 points.

  • Women's 200y Freestyle Relay – Senior Eboni McCarty, junior Julianna Stephens, freshman Katie Belle Sikes, and sophomore Helena Jones finished fourth with a season-best A-cut of 1:27.45. McCarty led off with a B-cut of 22.13, while Jones closed with a season-best anchor leg of 21.51.
  • Men's 200y Freestyle Relay – Freshman Tane Bidois, senior Reese Branzell, junior Ruard van Renen, and fifth-year Wesley Ng placed ninth with a season-best time of 1:17.36. Bidois led off with a personal-best B-cut of 19.33, becoming the third-fastest performer in program history.
  • Women's 500y Freestyle – Senior Rachel Stege podiumed for the third-consecutive year with an A-cut time of 4:34.28, adding to her gold medal in 2023 and silver medal last season. Fellow seniors Duné Coetzee (4th – 4:35.19) and Abby McCulloh (5th – 4:36.91) finished fourth and fifth respectively, with Coetzee turning in a PB that moved her to seventh in program history. Junior Shea Furse (15th – 4:40.28) and graduate Sloane Reinstein (4:40.45) each posted B-cuts in the consolation final.
  • Men's 500y Freestyle – Sophomore Tomas Koski earned his first individual SEC medal, taking silver with a personal-best A-cut of 4:08.25, becoming the No. 3 performer in program history. Graduate Jake Magahey reached the podium for the fifth-consecutive year, grabbing bronze with an A-cut time of 4:08.61, the 11th sub-4:10 time of his career. Junior Sam Powe finished 20th with a personal-best B-cut of 4:15.47.
  • Women's 200y IM – Junior Ieva Maluka finished sixth with a B-cut of 1:55.02, the best mark of her Georgia career. In prelims, fellow junior Olivia Della Torre notched a B-cut with a 25th-place time of 1:59.10, while sophomore Elizabeth Tilt finished 32nd with a PB of 1:59.86.
  • Men's 200y IM – Redshirt senior Luca Urlando placed sixth with a season-best B-cut of 1:41.46. Freshman Drew Hitchcock finished 11th with a personal-best B-cut of 1:43.20, rising to ninth all-time in program history.
  • Women's 50y Freestyle – McCarty finished 10th with a B-cut of 22.06, followed by Sikes in 13th place at 22.36. Jones prevailed in the 'C' final with a PB of 22.13.
  • Men's 50y Freestyle – Bidois finished 16th with a B-cut of 19.39, following a then-PB of 19.35 in the prelims session.
  • Women's 3-meter Diving – Junior Hannah Stumpf finished 27th with a score of 263.85, while freshman Ivy Buckley placed 44th at 199.10.
