WESTMONT, Ill. – The University of Georgia swimming and diving teams posted a fourth-place finish in their inaugural College Swimming League match Friday evening at the FMC Natatorium.

Georgia tallied 207.5 points in the coed competition, with Virginia taking the victory with 666 points. NC State finished second with 554.5 points, followed by Alabama in third place at 263 points. The Bulldogs earned one point in the overall CSL standings, with a second match taking place on Friday, Oct. 23 in Athens against SEC rivals Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee.

Senior Tomas Koski earned Georgia's lone victory of the evening with a first-place time of 4:12.85 in the 500y freestyle, earning an NCAA cut, setting a CSL individual record, and earning jackpot points for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Sean Green finished third with an NCAA cut of 4:14.49. Koski later finished second in the 200y freestyle with a time of 1:33.57 and anchored the fifth-place 200y freestyle relay (1:19.61).
Junior Marie Landreneau powered the Bulldog women with three top three finishes on the evening. In the 500y freestyle, Landreneau used a 26.8 split on her final 50 yards to place second with an NCAA time of 4:40.16. She also finished second in the 200y freestyle with an NCAA time of 1:45.14 and took third in the 200y IM with a time of 1:58.73.
In the opening event, a pair of Georgia freshmen women immediately rewrote the school record books in their first collegiate races. Maya Schweikert finished fifth with an NCAA time of 1:52.99, becoming the fourth-fastest performer in program history. Fellow rookie Virginia Hinds placed sixth with a personal-best NCAA cut of 1:53.07, moving to seventh in program history. Schweikert and Hinds also finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 100y backstroke.
Sophomore Elizabeth Nawrocki also improved her standing in the record book with a third-place NCAA PB of 2:08.21 in the 200y breaststroke, moving to sixth all-time.
Junior Jacob Johnson, making his debut after transferring from Minnesota in the offseason, became the eighth-fastest 100y butterflier in program history with a fourth-place time of 46.12. Johnson also took second in the 200y butterfly with an NCAA time of 1:42.35.
In other standout performances, senior Helena Jones completed her return from last year's season-ending injury with an NCAA cut of 48.41 in the 100y freestyle. Junior Drew Hitchcock finished third in the 200y IM with a time of 1:45.80, while freshman Maddie Thornton took fourth in the women's 200y IM with a 1:59.29.
Georgia's top relay performance came in the opening heat of the men's 200y medley relay super skins competition. Led by freshman Erkhes Enkhtur's 21.87 leadoff leg, freshman Jude Banks, Johnson, and sophomore Luke Sandberg joined in to place second with a time of 1:26.38.
