QUICK KICKS
Sunshine State Showdown
Georgia, now ranked 32nd in the NCAA RPI rankings, returns to the road to face rival Florida Sunday evening in Gainesville. The Bulldogs are coming off a tough loss to No. 4 Mississippi State Thursday in Athens, while the Gators fell, 2-0, to No. 23 South Carolina in Columbia. Sunday's meeting is the 40th all-time meeting between the programs, the most-played of any Georgia opponent. After only winning twice in the first 33 matchups, the Bulldogs are unbeaten in their last six meetings with the Gators, dating back to a last-minute victory in 2019. Last season, the teams played to a scoreless draw, following Georgia's first-ever win in Gainesville in 2022.

Looking to Rebound
Georgia is looking to bounce back from a late loss to No. 4 Mississippi State Thursday evening. Margie Detrizio gave the Bulldogs an immediate lead as she scored off Hannah White's assist just 80 seconds into the contest, giving her a team-best eight for the season. The Bulldog attack was only able to muster four more shots on frame as MSU continued to ratchet up the pressure, resulting in a tying penalty kick in the 53rd minute. Georgia was then unable to claim the conference point as Mississippi State played a through ball pass the back line for a winning goal in the 86th minute.

Brown's Best
Junior goalkeeper Jordan Brown has provided consistent excellence for Georgia throughout the season, earning the No. 29 spot in Top Drawer Soccer's Midseason Top 100 Player rankings. Brown was the third-highest ranked goalkeeper in the country and highest-ranked in the SEC. The Las Vegas native leads the SEC in saves (83) and saves per game (5.93), while ranking eighth nationally in saves as she surpassed last season's total in 14 matches.

Dawg Bites
  • Georgia players Nicole Vernis and Maddy Pirrello are both making their return to Gainesville after each playing three seasons for the Gators. Vernis was a member of the Bulldogs in 2022 but did not play that season due to SEC transfer regulations.
  • Following the win at Oklahoma, Georgia is now 11-2-5 against SEC opponents in road and neutral matches under Keidane McAlpine.
  • Georgia has displayed a great ability to play with the lead this season, holding a 6-1-1 record when scoring first in a match, with Mississippi State being their first loss in such matchups this season.
