Georgia concludes its two-match road trip with a Sunday night contest against LSU in Baton Rouge. Though Georgia holds an 11-8-5 advantage in the all-time series, the Bulldogs are only 4-6-1 in road fixtures and have only prevailed once in the past six meetings. In the 2020s, the Bulldogs and Tigers have put together a series of entertaining matches against each other. In 2021, Mollie Belisle's overtime winner gave Georgia a road victory against then-No. 5 LSU, although the Tigers would exact revenge with a shootout victory later that year in the SEC Tournament First Round. The Tigers then spoiled Croix Bethune's Bulldog debut in 2023 with three goals in the final 17 minutes of play, including the winner from current Georgia forward Sage Glover in the 84th minute. Last season, the Tigers earned a late draw in Athens with a Bulldog own goal.
Old Time Tigers
Sunday's match will mark the return of two former LSU players now on the Georgia roster. Fifth year forward Sage Glover appeared in 61 matches with 33 starts over three seasons with the Tigers, tallying 10 goals and an assist, including the winning goal at Georgia in 2023. Senior midfielder Gabbi Ceballos appeared in 45 matches with 38 starts for the Tigers, racking up six goals and five assists. Ceballos was named to last season's SEC Tournament Team while helping to lead LSU to the SEC Tournament final and NCAA Round of 16. Additionally, Georgia sophomore forward Mya Townes and LSU senior forward Ava Galligan are both alums of the Saint James Football Club in Virginia.
Hog Tied
Georgia earned its second SEC point of the season with a 2-2 draw at Arkansas Thursday evening. After the Razorbacks took the lead in the 39th minute, Mona Childs tied it for the Bulldogs four minutes later with a set piece goal off the corner from teammate Lola Manuel. Georgia quickly took the lead in the second half as Kieryn Jeter scored her first career goal off Kiera Staude's assist, but Arkansas countered five minutes with an equalizing header. The Bulldogs were able to withstand a second half surge from the Razorbacks, who racked up an 18-9 shot advantage and amassed 16 corner kicks, the most ever surrendered by a Georgia team.
SEC Road Warriors
Georgia has found tremendous success away from home in the Keidane McAlpine era, earning a result in 18 of 21 SEC regular season matches over his first four seasons. Aside from a loss last season at Tennessee, the Bulldogs have won or tied 11 of their last 12 conference road matches dating back to September 2024.
Starting Out Strong
Georgia's starting lineup has been proficient throughout the season at giving the Bulldogs early leads, posting a first half goal in all but one match. The Bulldogs have scored first in eight of their 10 matches, with five of those goals coming in the opening 10 minutes of play. Georgia will also look to turn leads into eventual victories, having tied or lost in six matches in which the team has held the lead.
