BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Georgia soccer team only tallied one shot on frame Sunday evening at LSU but made the most of the opportunity with a late equalizer from sophomore defender Maddy Herniter, earning a 1-1 draw before 612 spectators at LSU Soccer Stadium.

Georgia (3-3-5, 0-1-3 SEC) picked up its third point of the Southeastern Conference season as Herniter headed in a free kick from graduate forward Emma Pettersen in the 86^th minute, posting the first goal of her collegiate career. For the Bulldogs, it was their lone shot on goal for the match, although they amassed 14 shots overall and led in corner kicks, 7-3.
Freshman forward Maya Woolforde led all players with five shots, tying Georgia's individual season high. Herniter and fifth year defender Assa Kante each tallied two shots. Graduate goalkeeper Jordan Brown posted two saves.
LSU (2-8-2, 0-3-1 SEC) took the lead five minutes earlier with a converted penalty from Ava Amsden. The Tigers were awarded the penalty after senior defender Virginia Odom's challenge near the end line was reviewed. For the evening, LSU racked up 13 shots with three on frame.
The Tigers dominated the first half with an 11-4 shot advantage, giving the Bulldogs only their second scoreless first half of the season. In the second 45, Georgia asserted itself with a 10-2 shot margin, including a pair of strong looks for Pettersen in the 52^nd minute and Woolforde in the 58^th minute. Another opportunity arose in the 54^th minute as junior midfielder Kieryn Jeter's cross hit the post and idled in front of the goal before LSU midfielder Kelsey Major cleared the ball.

"Another hard-fought road game in the SEC. There are no games that are easy and I'll give LSU a lot of credit for the way they played tonight. We did enough to get a result, and ultimately, I have to be happy with the comeback and finding a goal after they scored one late. We have to take that and use it as momentum into the next one, but this is one I thought we let get away."
