Georgia opens a two-match SEC road trip with a contest against Arkansas on Thursday evening in Fayetteville. The Bulldogs and Razorbacks are meeting for the fifth time in four seasons, including two previous meetings in the SEC Tournament (2023 final, 2024 quarterfinals). Last season, the No. 22 Bulldogs topped the No. 6 Razorbacks, 1-0, in Athens, as Mya Townes scored in the 53rd minute to continue an eventual six-match unbeaten streak.
Thursday's matchup is the first with neither team entering with a ranking since a 2018 Georgia 3-1 victory. Despite recent success against Arkansas, Georgia has not prevailed in Fayetteville since a 1-0 win on Oct. 27, 2013; since then, the Bulldogs have failed to win three straight times at Razorback Field.
SEC Road Warriors
Georgia has found tremendous success away from home in the Keidane McAlpine era, earning a result in 17 of 20 SEC regular season matches over his first four seasons. Aside from a loss last season at Tennessee, the Bulldogs have won or tied 10 of their last 11 conference road matches dating back to September 2024.
Starting Out Strong
Georgia's starting lineup has been proficient throughout the season at giving the Bulldogs early leads. The Bulldogs have scored first in eight of their nine matches, with five of those scorings coming in the opening 10 minutes of play. As the second half of the season unwinds, Georgia will look to turn the early leads into more victories, having tied or lost five of the eight matches.
Sooner Surge
Georgia looked to close out a three-match homestand with its first ranked victory of the season, but No. 24 Oklahoma posted three goals in the second half to spoil the party. In the 10th minute, Emma Pettersen scored her third goal of the season, and 20th of her career, as she put away Kieryn Jeter's assist from the top of the 18. The Sooners overcame the deficit, first equalizing with Kate McCallister's header in the 57th minute. OU added additional goals in the 66th and 74th minutes, while only allowing zero Georgia shots on frame in the second half. For the Bulldogs, the loss completed only the second-ever run of three consecutive ranked opponents.
