BULLDOGS BULLETIN
Series History
» Georgia leads the all-time series with Georgia Southern 29-1
» The Bulldogs have won the last 21 meetings including two games in the 2006 Athens Regional
» Georgia won last season's meeting in Athens, 10-3
» All but two meetings have been in Athens. The lone two games in Statesboro were in 2000; the Bulldogs and Eagles split the doubleheader.
A Look Back
Georgia suffered a sweep at the hands of #8 LSU over the weekend. The Bulldogs either jumped out to early leads or mounted late-inning comebacks in all three games but couldn't push across go-ahead runs. Georgia hit five home runs off the LSU staff in the series. The series was highlighted by Alyssa DiCarlo tying Georgia's career RBI record with her 236th in Sunday's finale.
Georgia in the Polls
The Bulldogs held at #12 in the week seven USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll while dipping to #15 in the USA Softball/ESPN.com Poll.
DiCarlo Crushes All-Time Home Runs Record, Ties RBI Record
In the Mar. 10 game against Western Illinois at Jack Turner Stadium, Alyssa DiCarlo became Georgia's new all-time home runs leader, breaking the record of 58 set by Alisa Goler (2008-11). She hit two home runs in the game to tie then break the record with home runs 58 and 59.
In the series finale against LSU, DiCarlo tied Goler's record of 236 RBI. She will look to officially break the record this week.
1,000-Win Club
With its 1-0 shutout of Missouri on Mar. 15, Georgia softball recorded the 1,000th victory in program history. Georgia became only the fifth Division I program competing since 1996 or later to reach the 1,000-win mark. That group includes SEC programs Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and LSU.
Clutch Freshman
Freshman Savana Sikes has propelled to second on the team with 39 RBI in her rookie season. Sikes knocked in six runs including a grand slam against Western Illinois (3/11). She's second on the team with seven home runs in her rookie campaign.
You Shall Not Pass!
With a 9.6 strikeout-to-walk ratio, Kylie Bass ranks fourth in the country in the category. Her 0.77 walks allowed per seven innings also ranks among the best in the NCAA at sixth.
Walk It Out
Averaging a walk per game, freshman Lacey Fincher ranks fourth in the country, second in the SEC. Behind her is senior Alyssa DiCarlo with 0.97 walks per game, ranking third in the conference and fifth in the nation.
I Volunteer as Tribute
Freshman Savana Sikes is currently tied for seventh in the country with four sacrifice flies in her rookie season. That figure leads the SEC.
Bulldogs Smash
Georgia currently ranks among the nation's best in scoring (11th, 7.29 runs per game) and 10th in slugging percentage (.581) and in on base percentage (.424). Additionally, the Bulldogs rank 11th with 1.5 home runs per game. Individually, Alyssa DiCarlo leads the nation in home runs (18) along with being first in slugging (1.157) and sixth in RBI (42).
