The Allstate Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge Week
The Allstate Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge Week will begin in 2026. Highlighted by a doubleheader at Wrigley Field, this initiative brings together the nation's premier conferences in competition that reflects the growth and national momentum of women's college volleyball. All 18 Big Ten schools and all 16 SEC institutions will face off in 30 matches across the country beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1, culminating with a historic outdoor doubleheader at Wrigley Field on Sunday, Sept. 6.
Artiles Captures First SEC Freshman of the Week of 2026
Gigi Artiles was named the first SEC Freshman of the Week of the 2026 season. In her collegiate debut, Artiles recorded 3.00 kills per set on a .434 hitting percentage, 1.60 digs per set, and 1.10 blocks per set to help lift Georgia to a trio of wins in the Classic City Clash at Stegeman Coliseum. The Miami kicked off the weekend with a team-high 10 kills on a .444 hitting clip against North Florida in the season opener on Friday. She added two blocks and seven digs against the Ospreys. She wrapped up the Classic City Clash with 12 kills on a .579 hitting percentage with seven total blocks and seven digs against Furman on Saturday.

Georgia opened the 2026 season at Stegeman Coliseum with wins over North Florida, George Washington, and Furman in the Classic City Clash. The Bulldogs picked up sweeps of North Florida and George Washington on Friday. Georgia's offense impressed in the unbeaten weekend, highlighted by graduate Bianna Muoneke, freshman Gigi Artiles, and sophomore Marin Collins. Muoneke, who reached the milestone of 1,000 kills on Saturday, led the offense with 3.50 kills per set, hitting .253 on the outside. In her NCAA debut, Artiles laid down 3.00 kills per set with an impressive .434 hitting clip in 10 sets. She also co-led the team with 11 blocks.
Muoneke Eclipses 1,000 Career Kills
Graduate outside hitter Bianna Muoneke tallied the 1,000th kill of her career in the fourth set against Furman on Aug. 29 at Stegeman Coliseum. Her team-leading 15th and final kill marked the career milestone. She also recorded her first double-double of the season with 11 digs. The Cypress, Texas native is on track to become a member of Georgia's 1,000-Kill Club, needing 297 kills to become the 21st member of the elite club.
Muoneke Named Preseason All-SEC Team
Outside hitter Bianna Muoneke has been voted to the 2026 Volleyball Preseason All-SEC Team. Muoneke, from Cypress, Texas, was an AVCA All-America honorable mention last season. She was named AVCA All-Southeast Region Team and was an All-SEC First Team member. Off the court, she was named CSC Academic All-District and appeared on the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll. She graduated in December with her degree in Sociology and has started pursuing her Master's in Public Health.
Bulldogs Add Power on both pins
The Bulldogs bolstered its offensive attack on both sides of the net in the offseason. Transfers outside hitters Alyssa Worden (Iowa) and Marin Collins (Penn State) joined the Bulldogs in January and each bring a lot of fire power offensively. Freshman Gigi Artiles, traditionally an outside, will see a lot of action as an opposite this season. Fellow freshmen Taylor Bruce (opposite) and Arianna Muoneke (outside) early enrolled in January and trained with the team in the spring. Both will compete for playing time this season.
Georgia Picked Sixth in SEC Preseason Poll
Georgia was picked to finish sixth in the SEC by the league's head coaches. Kentucky was picked to win the league, followed by Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, and Tennessee. The Bulldogs were picked where they finished in 2025, in sixth place with am 8-7 record in SEC play. Georgia returns 11 student-athletes, including four starters from last season's roster. The Bulldogs added six newcomers in the offseason: two transfers and four freshmen.
Black Poised for Year 10 in Athens
Head coach Tom Black will take up the helm of the Bulldogs for his 10th season in Athens. Black has guided the Bulldogs to 147 wins, 80 in SEC play, and three NCAA Tournament appearances (2019, 2022, 2023). He is the third-longest tenured head coach in Georgia volleyball history behind Sid Feldman (1978-88) and Jim Iams (1989-99), who each served 11 seasons, and the fourth-longest tenured head coach in the SEC behind Jerritt Elliott, Craig Skinner, and Jason Watson. Assistant coach Aaron Benning and director of operations David Dantes have been on Black's staff each season in Athens.
