Opening Statement
"Just pleased with our team's resilience and willingness to just stay in the fight today. I've been fortunate, I told the team before in our pregame meeting, that I've been fortunate to be in a number of these first games. Some as the number one seed in the regional, and what I found on that first day is that it never goes according to plan. When you look across the country today, there were lots of battles and close games. At the end of the day, you just have to stay in it and keep being invested in the process of playing good softball. We did that today. I thought Addi [Fisher] came in and gave us a spark with the way she threw. Then, we just kept putting together good at-bats and then certainly Gordy [Sarah Gordon] with the big hit. I thought there in maybe the second inning that we put together a string of good at-bats and ended up not scoring. I thought that really started to create some pressure on them. Hats off to College of Charleston. I thought their pitcher [Mackenzie Mathis] threw outstanding, and they are a well-coached, played hard and did a lot of good things. The crowd was amazing. There was a great turnout, and they were invested in the game. They were participating in the game, and they certainly provided our players a lot of energy. We're going to certainly need that through the rest of the weekend."
#7 Sarah Gordon | Sr. | UTL
On her two-run home run…
"It was a great moment, but I knew that someone was going to do it. Someone was going to come through. Like you were just talking about, the second half of the game, we did really well. I think if we still have outs up on the board, we're going to figure it out. Someone's going to figure it out. I think we have so much trust in each other to do that. Like Coach [Baldwin] said, erosion. If we keep just fighting in our at-bats, then someone's going to get a pitch that they can do that with. Tonight it was me, but recently it's been a handful of – not even a handful - it's been our whole lineup that's been producing that way. I just think we have so much trust in one another, and that helps us go out there and just play free no matter what the scoreboard says."
#11 Addisen Fisher | So. | RHP
On her performance…
"I was just going out there and doing my thing. Again, I have to give all the credit to my teammates because they made it so I could go out there and do my thing comfortably, knowing that they would have my back."
