Georgia softball will make its 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance this week, traveling to Durham for the NCAA Durham Regional. The tournament will be hosted by No. 14 seed Duke and will also feature Coastal Carolina and Howard.
 
Georgia will take on Coastal Carolina at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16 on ESPN+. Duke will open the regional against Howard at noon on ACC Network.

Series History
Duke
- Georgia leads the all-time series 3-1
- The Bulldogs and Blue Devils have only met in the NCAA Tournament
- Georgia hosted the nationally seeded Blue Devils in the Athens Regional in 2021. Georgia defeated Duke twice in the regional to begin its run to its fifth Women's College World Series.
- The next season, Georgia traveled to Durham for the NCAA Regional. Georgia fell to Liberty in its first game and worked its way through the elimination bracket to match up with the Blue Devils in the regional final. The Bulldogs beat Duke 5-3 to force a game seven. Duke prevailed 13-5 to advance to its first Super Regional.
Coastal Carolina
- Georgia leads the all-time series 2-0
- Georgia and Coastal Carolina matched up in the 2012 Athens Regional, the most recent meeting; Georgia won 13-3 in five innings
Howard
- Georgia leads the all-time series 2-0
- Howard traveled to Athens in 2020; Georgia won both meetings that season in the Red & Black Showcase

A Look at What's Ahead
The Durham Regional is paired with the Gainesville Regional, hosted by No. 3 Florida. The winner of each regional will face off in the NCAA Super Regional round May 22-25 in a best-of-three series for a spot in the 2025 Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
 
Let's Recap
Georgia defeated Kentucky, 8-0, in five innings to open play at the SEC Tournament at Jack Turner Stadium on Tuesday. Jaydyn Goodwin went 2-for-3 with four RBI. She tied Georgia's SEC Tournament record with her four RBI. Dallis Goodnight also scattered two hits with an RBI in the contest. Lilli Backes pitched the complete-game shutout in the circle, improving to 14-9 on the season. She gave up three hits, struck out six, and walked two. Georgia went toe-to-toe against Arkansas on Wednesday in the second round, ultimately falling to the Razorbacks on a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh, 5-1. Goodnight finished 2-for-3 and was on base three times with a stolen base in the contest. Marisa Miller provided the RBI single that gave Georgia a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth. Georgia out-hit the Razorbacks 6-5 in the game.
 
Goodnight Tabbed Second Team All-SEC
Dallis Goodnight was voted Second Team All-SEC by the league's head coaches. This is Goodnight's second-straight Second Team All-SEC honor, earning that status a season ago. The Dacula native led Georgia in SEC play this season with a .344 batting average. Her 19 hits and 12 stolen bases also led the Bulldogs, while her stolen base count led the league in SEC play. She scattered 22 hits, including a pair of doubles and a triple. In the field, Goodnight committed just one error on the season while making highlight reel plays.
 
Howard Honored on SEC Softball Community Service Team
Destin Howard was appointed to the 2025 SEC Softball Community Service Team. Howard serves as Georgia's SAAC President for the 2024-25 academic year. Through SAAC and her work with the Georgia Way, she has volunteered her time in various ways throughout her career. Howard has worked with the Georgia Way pajama drive and served as a CCSS sports mentor. She has visited local schools as part of Georgia Reads Day and assisted with the annual Spooky Dawgs event. Howard was a softball mentor at Monroe County High School and has volunteered to serve meals at the local homeless shelter. She is also on the Student-Athlete Advisory Board at UGA. Howard was honored with the Clifford Lewis Leadership Award at the 2025 Dawgs Choice Awards.
 
Four Bulldogs Selected to NFCA All-South Region Teams
Outfielders Dallis Goodnight and Jaydyn Goodwin have earned spots on the NFCA All-South Region Second Team, while fellow outfielder Sarah Gordon and catcher Marisa Miller were honored with Third Team appointments. Gordon was a 2023 NFCA All-Southeast Region Second Team member as a freshman at Louisville. This is the first NFCA All-Region honor for Goodnight, Goodwin, and Miller.
 
14 Teams from the SEC Will Compete in the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament
Fourteen teams from the SEC will compete in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. With 14 teams in the tournament, the SEC reset the NCAA record for most teams from a single conference participating in the championship. The Conference previously set the record back in 2017 with 13 teams and tied that mark three more times in 2018, 2019, and 2024. The SEC also tied its own record from 2018 with nine national seeds for the 2025 NCAA Tournament, including seven of the top eight.
 
Congratulations, Grads!
A trio of Georgia softball student-athletes completed their degrees from the University of Georgia. Lyndi Rae Davis earned her Master's in Sport Management, just a year after earning her Bachelor's in Sport Management. Rachel Gibson earned her degree in Consumer Economics, and Dallis Goodnight completed her Sport Management degree.
 
That GOOD Speed
Dallis Goodnight ranks 33rd in the nation in stolen bases (28) and 34th in stolen base percentage (.875). She ranks fourth in the SEC in both categories. Her 12 stolen bases in SEC play was the most in the league, three more than the second-most. In just three seasons at Georgia, Goodnight's 63 stolen bases ranks ninth at UGA.
 
The Go, Go, Go's
The trio of Jaydyn Goodwin, Sarah Gordon, and Dallis Goodnight has combined to lead the Georgia offense down the stretch of the season. The three are tops on the team in batting average, runs scored, hits, triples, total bases, total plate appearances, and at-bats. Goodnight leads the team with 18 multi-hit games while Gordon and Goodwin have 16 each, and Gordon and Goodwin have registered the most multi-RBI games (13) and have combined for 19 of Georgia's 47 home runs (47%).
 
Dawg Walk
Graduate Lyndi Rae Davis' 0.84 walks per game this season ranks 16th in the country and fifth in the SEC. Her 21 walks in SEC play was the fourth highest in the conference. She's drawn multiple walks in a game 11 times including three times in a game three times. In her career, her 122 walks ranks sixth all-time at UGA. She drew 42 walks last season.
 
"Work While You Wait" - Tony Baldwin
Juniors Tyler Ellison and Marisa Miller have each had breakout seasons in 2025. Ellison had a combined 34 at-bats her first two years and has earned a starting role this season. Miller had just two hits in 22 at-bats a season ago in five starts. The pair is hitting .306 and .312, respectively, this season and have been mainstays in Georgia's lineup, combining for 72 hits and 47 RBI. Ellison ranks third on the team with eight home runs. Miller ranks first in the SEC throwing runners out from behind the plate this season.
