Bulldogs Sweep Doubleheader to Claim Series Over Tigers
ATHENS, Ga. – The ninth-ranked Georgia softball team won both ends of Saturday's doubleheader against the 13th-ranked Missouri Tigers, winning both games by a score of 4-2.
Fast Facts
• Sophomore Tyler Ellison made her first start in a conference game in game one, getting the nod at shortstop. It was her third career start. She was the starting designated player in two non-conference games this season.
• Sydney Chambley's two-run home run in the fourth was her eighth home run of the season. Her triple in the sixth was the 10th of her career, moving her into a tie for eight most in Georgia history.
• All four of Georgia's runs in game one were scored with two out.
• A sac fly scored Dallis Goodnight in the first inning of the second game. Georgia had not scored in the first inning of a game since March 31 against Arkansas. The Bulldogs improve to 15-0 when scoring in the first inning.
• Lilli Backes earned a save and a win on Saturday, working a total of 8.2 innings. Her third strikeout in the seventh inning of game two was the 100th of the season for her. Backes went the distance in the second game for her seventh complete game of the season.
• Goodnight lengthened her hitting and on-base streaks to nine games.

"After yesterday we met as a team and talked about Georgia softball and what that means and what it's all about. One of the things Lu [Harris-Champer] used to always say was, 'scrap, fight, and find a way.' That's what Georgia softball is all about. Scrap, fight, and find a way. It doesn't always have to be pretty. And today, I thought we were as scrappy, and we fought as hard as we have all year. And. I'm just really proud of the girls."
On what stood out in today's games...
"Scrap, fight, and find a way - that's what they did. Shelby [Walters] went out there and was really in command in the circle. Then Lilli [Backes], she carried the day. She just was so competitive -- threw her fastest pitch of the day with the bases loaded. To really buckle down and make pitches, you know, just really proud of her. I thought Dallis [Goodnight] was outstanding, just so competitive. That play that she made there in the fifth or sixth was a game-changer. We just kept taking the punches and fighting. I thought our commitment to finding a way to get it done was as strong as it's been all year. Couldn't be more proud."
