
Long Ball Puts UGA Over No. 14 Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. --- The long ball highlighted the day for No. 10 Georgia (33-8, 7-4) with the Bulldogs taking a five-inning 10-0 win over No. 14 Missouri (26-9, 5-6).
The Bulldogs recorded four home runs on the day, led by Alyssa DiCarlo notching two, as she was 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI. Lacey Sumerlin and Tina Iosefa also went yard in the game. Sumerlin posted a multi-hit game with two along with Sydni Emanuel, as each had a RBI.
Brittany Gray (10-4) earned the win after holding the Tigers to two hits while striking out three. Kylie Bass finished the final frame, allowing just one walk.
Georgia scored in each inning, as a double steal attempt allowed Cortni Emanuel to get the first run. DiCarlo then hit the game's first home run to make it 3-0. It became 4-0 in the second after a RBI single from S. Emanuel scored Katie Browne.
The freshmen in the lineup made it 6-0 after three, as DiCarlo hit a leadoff home run over right field while Sumerlin hit her own home run later in the frame. A throwing error from the Tigers quickly made it 7-0 in the next inning while Iosefa got in on the home run brigade, sending a two-out shot for the 9-0 advantage.
Samantha LaZear sealed the win at 10-0 in her plate appearance of the fifth inning, as she reached on a hit while rounding the final three bases after a Tiger fielding error went to the outfield.
The series concludes on Sunday with the game beginning at 1 p.m. ET on SEC Network+/WatchESPN.
