Bulldogs Serve Up Sweep of South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Georgia volleyball team blanked South Alabama in straight sets (25-18, 25-10, 25-23) on Saturday at Jaguar Gym on day two of the South Alabama Invitational.

Georgia advances to 6-2 on the season.

Senior Bianna Muoneke tallied 17 kills on a .469 hitting percentage in the match. She put up a team-high seven digs and tied a season-best four blocks.
The Bulldogs served up 12 aces in the match. That number ties for second-most in a three-set match in Georgia's rally scoring era and was the most in a three-set match since 12 against Alabama A&M on Nov. 28, 2017. Freshman Gigi Artiles and fifth-year Ana Julia Bleeker each had four, each a season high.
The offense once again hit very high, hitting .415 in the match. After hitting .448 on Friday, the third-highest hitting percentage in three sets in rally scoring history at UGA, the Bulldogs' .415 hitting clip against South Alabama was the ninth-highest in three sets.
The Bulldogs hit .533 in the opening set, committing just one hitting error. Graduate Tori Harper led the attack with six kills while Muoneke tallied five to start the match.
South Alabama's 10 points in the second set tied for 10^th-fewest points allowed by Georgia in a set. The Bulldogs allowed just nine in a set to Notre Dame earlier in the week.
South Alabama led by as much as three in the third set, and kept Georgia at bay much of the frame. Down one at 23-22, back-to-back Bulldog blocks gave Georgia the lead and drew match point. A Jaguar error sealed the sweep for Georgia.
