Georgia Faces Bucs Tuesday At Foley Field

April 13, 2026 | Baseball

ATHENS, GA.-----Southeastern Conference-leading Georgia, ranked as high as No. 5 nationally this week, returns to action Tuesday at Foley Field when East Tennessee State visits Foley Field. First pitch will be at 3:02 p.m. and be available on the SECN+ and the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network.

Georgia (29-8, 11-4 SEC) conclude its latest homestand with the Bucs (23-10) and then will be on the road for the next seven contests. Georgia has a 1.5 game lead in the SEC standings after dropping its first series in league play this past weekend to No. 21 Florida in Athens. Still, Georgia's 11-4 SEC record is its best through the first half of a 30-game slate since 2009 when it went 11-4. In 2019, Georgia finished the second half of SEC action with an 11-4 mark to post its best 30-game league record of 21-9. In the Wes Johnson era, the Bulldogs in SEC play went 17-13 in 2024 (7-8/10-5) and 18-12 (10-5/8-7) in 2025.

The Bucs (23-10), members of the Southern Conference, won a non-conference series over Belmont 2-1 this past weekend in Nashville. ETSU is batting .298 with 40 home runs, a .411 on base percentage and is 39-for-48 in stolen bases. They are fielding .974.

Georgia is 12-0 all-time against ETSU with the series dating to 1981. Last year, the Bulldogs beat ETSU 8-6. Nine Bulldogs saw action on a staff afternoon for the team's 16-straight win before SEC play began. All 12 meetings with the Bucs have been in Athens.

Georgia Leads Nation In Home Runs And SEC In Batting Average
Although it didn't hit a home run in the Florida series, Georgia still has an NCAA-leading 98 Home Runs and ranks second nationally in Slugging Percentage (.623) and Runs (352). The Bulldogs are seventh in On Base Percentage (.447) and Batting (SEC-best .324), ninth in Scoring (9.5 runs per game) and eighth in Fielding Percentage (.984).

Phelps, Jackson & Lujo Rank 1-2-3 In SEC Batting
*Junior 3B Tre Phelps (.398-14-39) is the SEC batting average leader. He leads the nation in Hit-By-Pitches (22) and is fifth in Runs Scored (50). Phelps has been named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List. Phelps has hit safely in 11 straight games.
*Junior C Daniel Jackson (.385-16-51, 17 SB) ranks ninth nationally in Home Runs, fifth in Total Bases (113) and second in the SEC in batting. Recently, he was named to the Midseason Watch Lists for the Buster Posey Collegiate Catcher of the Year and the Golden Spikes Award.
Earlier this year, Jackson had a team-best 21-game hitting streak while Phelps carried one over from last year that stretched to 27, one game shy of the school record.
*Sophomore OF/INF Rylan Lujo (.380-5-23) is putting together quite a year as he ranks third on the team in batting and in the SEC behind the Golden Spikes Watch List duo of Tre Phelps and Daniel Jackson. Lujo has been ever better in SEC action, posting a league-best .442 mark (19-for-43) to go with three home runs and 11 RBI plus is 4-for-5 in stolen bases.
