ATHENS, GA.-----Georgia, ranked as high as No. 4 nationally this week, returns to action Tuesday at Foley Field when the Panthers of Georgia State visit Foley Field. First pitch will be at 3:02 p.m. and be available on the SECN+ and the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network.

Georgia (23-6) leads the GSU series 51-9 including 4-0 under Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson. The series began in 1971. Georgia State (13-16), led by coach Brad Stromdahl, was swept at home by Texas State this past weekend, falling 18-6, 1-0 and 12-3.

The Bulldogs are coming off an SEC sweep of South Carolina, and after the Tuesday affair, they head to fifth-ranked Miss. State (24-4, 7-2 SEC) for a league series that begins Thursday night. MSU is 17-0 at home this year and just swept No. 18 Ole Miss in Oxford. With the sweep, Georgia claimed a series lead over USC at 72-71 that dates to 1896. The Bulldogs surged ahead thanks to a pair of sweeps in the past two series (2024 in Columbia).

In its first SEC trip this year (March 20-22), Georgia faced No. 21 Texas A&M and registered its first ever series win in College Station. The Aggies were 14-0 at home before the series with the Bulldogs. Georgia hit .283 with 11 home runs during the Texas A&M series.

Georgia Leads Nation In Home Runs And Slugging Percentage
    *Georgia has an NCAA-leading 85 Home Runs and .649 SLG% plus is fifth in Fielding (.985). Also, the Bulldogs rank fourth in runs (275), fifth in OB% (.454), 10th in HPB (66) and ninth in scoring per game (9.5) and batting average (.326). GSU is batting .252 with 16 home runs and fielding .971. They average 5.8 runs per game.

    *Georgia junior C Daniel Jackson leads the team with 16 home runs (including three grand slams) followed by senior SS Kolby Branch with 13, senior 1B/C Brennan Hudson with 11 and junior 3B Tre Phelps with 10. Branch ranks tied for seventh in Georgia history with 43 home runs and has 49 for his career counting the six he had for Baylor in 2023.

    *Georgia is averaging an NCAA-leading 2.93 Home Runs per Game (HR/G) in 2026. The 2025 squad averaged 2.40 HR/G while the 2024 team averaged 2.52 HR/G. Georgia's past two squads ranked 1-2 in school history in HR, Last season, the Bulldogs had a school-record eight players with double-digit HR as the team finished with 144. In 2024 when Georgia set a school mark with 151 HR, the Bulldogs had six players with 10+ HR including an NCAA-best 37 by Golden Spikes Award winner Charlie Condon who was the third overall pick in the MLB Draft that year (Colorado Rockies).

    *This past Sunday marked Georgia's first game of the season that it didn't hit a home run, and it still won 9-7. The last time Georgia scored at least nine runs in a win without a home run came in 2024, a 10-0 run-rule in seven innings over UNC Asheville.

    *With its penchant for home runs, the Bulldogs are 1-3 when they hit just one big fly this season and 21-3 when they hit two or more. In 2025, Georgia was 2-4 when it didn't homer, 9-6 when it had just one and 32-7 with two or more. In 2024, the Bulldogs were 2-6 without hitting one, 6-3 when they had only one and 35-8 when they smashed two or more.

    *Brown will be making his seventh appearance this season and fourth start. His starts have come on staff days. For the year, he has pitched 13 innings with four walks and 14 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .234 against him. He did not pitch in the USC series, and his last outing came against Kennesaw State last Tuesday (2.1 IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB, 5K).
    *The Bulldogs have a 4.19 ERA with 308 strikeouts and 116 walks. Opponents are hitting .232.
    *GSU has a 6.22 ERA with 226 strikeouts and 170 walks. Opponents are hitting .260.

Hitters To Watch
     *Junior C/OF Daniel Jackson (.417-16-46, 13 SB) ranks second nationally in home runs, third in SLG% (.935) and RBI plus fourth in total bases (101). He delivered a grand slam in last Friday's  win over USC plus clutch RBI-hits in Sunday's series sweep. He posted a .545 mark (6-for-11)  and seven RBI in the USC series. Earlier this year, he had a career-best 21-game hitting streak.
    *Junior 3B Tre Phelps (.410-10-27) ranks ninth nationally in hit-by-pitches (18) and sixth in runs scored (40). Against USC, he batted a team-best .556 (5-for-9) with five runs scored, three HBP and two late-inning defensive highlights to preserve Bulldog leads.
    *Sophomores Rylan Lujo (.365-4-16) and Henry Allen (.348-9-31) hit two of Georgia's three home runs in the sweep of USC. In the series, Lujo batted .375 while Allen hit .364.
     *GSU's top hitters include sophomore OF John Beverley (.359-0-15, 16 SB), sophomore  3B Wills Maginnis (.296-4-21, 12 SB) and sophomore 1B/C Hunter Carlson (.284-4-27).
