  • The Panthers struck first in the top of the second and did not get on the board until the top of the fifth, off a two-run homer by third baseman Wills Maginnis.
  • Georgia batted around in the fifth. Brennan Hudson started off the bottom of the inning with a leadoff double for the Bulldogs. Kolby Branch followed with a double to left, bringing in the first run of the game for Georgia. Tre Phelps tallied his 10th homer of the season, tying the game at three a piece. Jordy Oriach knocked an infield single to bring in Daniel Jackson, and Henry Allen made it home after Bryce Calloway advanced to first on a bases loaded hit-by-pitch.
  • In the seventh, Branch brought in Ty Peeples from second with two-out single to center.
  • Georgia State tied the game in the eighth with a three-run shot to right. They went on to add three more in the inning.

Three straight walks to Peeples, Scott Newman and Hudson tied the game at nine. Branch's fielder's choice brought home Peeples to give the Bulldogs the lead.

Key Quotes

Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson
On power as an identity for the offense…
It's not our total identity. I joked with the guys that we won a game on Sunday, and we had 14 or 15 hits and didn't hit a homer. We can do that. Daniel Jackson's now up to 14 stolen bases. Rylan Lujo's really fast. So we have some guys who can steal some bases and do some things that don't just speak to power. We've got some of that, so I think it was big to be able to do that."

#1 Tre Phelps | Jr. | 3B
On his Multi-Home Run game…
"I think that shows, honestly. That shows how great our coaches are recruiting. Every single one of our guys have been able to come in under pressure and be able to just put the work in and know that that's what they expect from us. That is what we expect from ourselves, to be able to show that high expectation on the field."

#9 Kolby Branch | Sr. | SS
On the upcoming SEC Series…
"They are a complete team. They are one of the best teams in the country. We're one of the best teams in the country as well. Going on the road in the SEC is tough, especially in that environment, it's tough. But what we've learned about this team is, weirdly enough, we like it when we're threatened, when we're down. I think we play our best baseball for some reason. That feeling going over to [Mississippi] State, knowing that, I think that'll get us."
