Gabriella Albert Paces Bulldogs At Briars Creek

JOHN'S ISLAND, S.C. — Led by an even-par 72 from freshman Gabriella Albert, the Georgia women's golf team fired a 15-over 303 in Monday's first round of the Briars Creek Invitational on John's Island, S.C.

• The Bulldogs are in 14th place on the team leaderboard with 18 holes to play.
• The tournament was originally scheduled to feature 36 holes of competition on Monday but was shortened to 18 due to a lengthy lightning delay. The tourney will now feature two rounds instead of three, with the final 18 holes to be contested on Tuesday.
• Albert was steady throughout her loop. She teed off from No. 8 with the shotgun start and immediately made birdie. After bogeys at No. 16 and No. 18 on the back side, Albert notched a birdie at No. 5 before a pair of finishing pars.
