Top-10 golfer in Class of 2027 to join Bulldogs this fall
ATHENS, Ga. — Ashley Shaw, a top-10 ranked golfer originally in the Class of 2027, has reclassified and signed with Georgia to begin her collegiate career with the Bulldogs this fall, head women's coach Erika Brennan announced on Friday.
Shaw, who is from Litchfield Park, Ariz., was ranked Class of 2027's No. 7 prospect in the Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings. She also is currently No. 37 in the U.S. and No. 51 globally in the Universal Golf Rankings (TUGR) and No. 67 in the American Junior Golf Association's (AJGA) Rolex Rankings.
"Ashley is a difference maker and her golf is special," Brennan said. "She is tremendously long off the tee, which makes her capable of getting deep under par. She has proven she can compete in elite fields, and we love her maturity and composure under pressure. Simply put, Ashley 'wants the ball' when the game is in on the line, and we love that competitiveness in her. Off the course, Ashley shines! She is bright, articulate and a leader. We cannot wait to come alongside her and play a role in her growth."
Last week, Shaw captured the 2026 First Tee National Championship in dominant fashion. She shot 10-under (68-67-65=200) en route to a 13-stroke victory on June 25 in Chapel Hill, N.C. Shaw has a long history with the PGA Tour's First Tee Foundation, serving as a volunteer coach and ambassador for eight years.
"I chose the University of Georgia because of the impressive coaches and team as well as the campus and global support system," Shaw said. "I chose UGA because it will help me to improve my game while supporting my professional goals on and off the course. I can't wait to have a positive impact on the community and take my journey to the next level. Go Dawgs!"
In nine AJGA tournaments over the past year, Shaw has four top-10 finishes, headlined by a tie for fourth at the AJGA Thunderbird Heather Farr Classic in May and a sixth place showing at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship in June.
Shaw burst onto the scene in 2024 when she became the youngest ever winner of the Arizona Golf Association's Women's Match Play Championship. She then made her LPGA debut as a 15 year old that May in the Cognizant Founders Cup at Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, N.J. Shaw did so after winning The John Shippen Cognizant Cup, a series of events which aims to create opportunities and exposure in golf for Black men and women, as well as a pathway to the PGA and LPGA Tours for the nation's top Black amateur and professional golfers.
Shaw has been a standout on Steph Curry's Underrated Golf Tour since its founding in 2022, competing in 20 events and recording 12 top-5 finishes including a quartet of wins at the inaugural season-ending Curry Cup at TPC at Harding Park in 2022, at Palm Springs and Sawgrass in 2025 and in Gainesville, Fla., this season.
From 2018-20, Shaw competed primarily in events sponsored by the Junior Golf Association of Arizona. In 35 tournaments, she captured 13 wins and 15 top-5 efforts.
Shaw will be the third freshman on Georgia's roster for the 2026-27 season. Last fall, Brennan announced the signing of Isabel Emanuels, who was No. 18 in the class of 2026 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings, and Liva Krøl Andersen, the No. 2-ranked amateur from Denmark.
