The Opening Tip
Georgia hosts Florida on Wednesday evening, a rematch of one of Stegeman Coliseum's most memorable matchups in the past decade last season.
On Feb. 25, the Bulldogs sprinted to a 26-point lead less than eight minutes after the opening tip. No. 3 Florida methodically chipped away at that margin and eventually took the lead with 68 seconds left before a Blue Cain 3-pointer ignited a 10-3 run to end the evening...and cue a court storming.
That sparked a four-game winning streak that locked up Georgia's first NCAA bid in a decade. It also was the Gators' last loss of the season.
Georgia is coming off an 83-71 victory at LSU last Saturday, the Bulldogs' third SEC road win and fourth road "W" of the season (adding a 107-73 win at Florida State in the ACC/SEC Challenge).
Georgia's statistical resume for the 2025-26 campaign is incredibly impressive.
As of Monday, the Bulldogs were ranked in the top 25 nationally in 10 of the 28 statistics tracked by the NCAA, including leading all 365 Division I programs in fastbreak points (22.3 ppg) and blocks (6.9 bpg) and ranking second in scoring offense (91.9 ppg).
Georgia has a deep rotations playing at a pace among the country's quickest.
Eleven Bulldogs are averaging double-figure minutes, and according to the oft-used metric KenPom.com, Georgia entered this week ranked No. 7 nationally in adjusted tempo (72.8) and No. 8 in average offensive possession length (15.0).
Georgia's depth is not just in numbers but also in its offensive production.
Ten of the 11 Bulldogs playing double-digit minutes have scored 10+ points in a game, combining to record 95 double-figure scoring outputs this season.
Jeremiah Wilkinson is averaging a team-high 17.1 ppg, while Blue Cain is contributing 13.2 ppg, Marcus "Smurf" Millender is chipping in 11.7 ppg and Kanon Catchings is adding 11.2 ppg.
Scouting The Gators
Florida is 17-6 overall and 7-2 in SEC play entering Wednesday's game. The Gators have won seven of their last eight outings after dropping their SEC opener at Missouri.
Thomas Haugh leads a quintet of starters scoring at a double-figure pace for Florida at 17.8 ppg. Alex Condon chips in 13.4 ppg, Rueben Chinyelu adds 12.0, Boogie Fland scores 11.3 ppg and Xavian Lee rounds out the group at 10.7 ppg. Urban Klavzar is just shy of a sixth 10+ point producer at 9.8 ppg off the bench.
Chinyelu paces the SEC in rebounds at 11.5 rpg, making him the only player in the league averaging a double-double.
Series History With Florida
Despite Georgia's 64-45 advantage in games played in Athens, Florida possesses a 127-106 edge in the all-time hardwood series between the Bulldogs and the Gators. A recap of the series can be found in the column to the left.
In the most recent matchup at Stegeman last Feb. 25, Georgia notched an 88-82 upset of No. 3/3 Florida before a raucous sellout crowd at Stegeman Coliseum.
Georgia led by 26 points early, was up by 16 points at the intermission and by double digits until the 11:08 mark of the second stanza. The Gators used a 13-0 surge to go up 80-78 at the 1:08 mark before Blue Cain knocked down a 3-pointer to open a 10-3 run by the Bulldogs over the final 47 seconds.
The victory was Georgia's first over a top-3 team since the Bulldogs bested No. 3 Georgia Tech, 83-80, in double overtime on Jan. 3, 2004.
Just over a month ago in Gainesville, Marcus "Smurf" Millender led Georgia with 18 points on a 7-of-11 shooting night from the field and Dylan James scored a career-high 16 points; however, the Bulldogs dropped a 92-77 decision at Florida.
Georgia trailed 41-40 at halftime but was outscored 51-27 following the intermission.
Last Time Out
Kanon Catchings' equaled his career high with 23 points to lead Georgia in an 83-71 win at LSU last Saturday night.
The Bulldogs got of to a slow start, trailing 31-16 with just under 10 minutes left in the first half. Georgia then ended the first half and opened the second stanza on a 29-6 run to go up 45-27 and maintained a two-possession lead the rest of the evening.
"We settled in and probably played as good of a 30 minutes collectively, defensively, as we've played all year," head coach Mike White said. "And that's what it takes to win on the road in this league. Proud of the effort. A lot of carryover from practice. These guys worked hard and their attention to detail was pretty good against an LSU team that's capable of beating anyone in our league. This was a big win for us."
Gators Are Georgia's Most Frequent Foe
Georgia and Florida will face off for the 233rd time on Wednesday, the most games the Bulldogs have played against any opponent. Rounding out the top-5 foes in games played are Auburn at 202, Georgia Tech at 201, Tennessee with 163 and Kentucky with 161.
Resilient Dogs Rally From Double-Digit Deficits
Georgia certainly didn't look like it was headed to a double-figure victory at LSU when the Bulldogs trailed by 15 points just after the midway point of the first half in Baton Rouge.
After falling behind 31-16, Georgia outscored the Tigers 67-40 the rest of the way.
That marked the fourth game this season the Bulldogs overcame a double-digit gap en route to a win, also doing so against Cincinnati, LIU and South Carolina. In two more outings – Clemson and Ole Miss – UGA recovered from 10+-point deficits to lead before eventually losing in overtime.
Georgia Putting Up Points At A Record-Breaking Pace
The Bulldogs are well on their way to shattering the program's all-time scoring record.
Georgia is currently averaging 91.9 points per game 23 contests into the campaign, an extremely healthy 9.2 ppg better than the Bulldogs' current best-ever effort of 82.7 ppg en route to winning the 1990 SEC Championship.
Those Bulldogs scored 2,399 points over 29 games. By comparison, Georgia has already scored 2,114 points this season.
Dunkyard Dawgs Lead The Nation In Slams
According to BartTorvik.com, Georgia entered this week ranked No. 1 the nation in percentage of its field goals this season on dunks at 18.7 – 145 of 724 the Bulldogs' total FGs – as outlined below.
Somto Cyril's 59 dunks ranked No. 3 nationally and led all SEC players by a wide gap of 21 slams. Kareem Stagg was second among Bulldogs with 18 dunks; followed by Jake Wilkins with 17; Kanon Catchings and Jeremiah Wilkinson both with 12; Justin Abson with 11; Blue Cain with nine; and Dylan James with seven.

White Enjoyed Successful Stint In Gainesville
Mike White was the head coach at Florida for seven seasons from 2015-22, posting a 142-88 record while in Gainesville.
Under White, the Gators were the only SEC program to earn a bid to the four NCAA Tournaments contested between 2017-21. In addition, Florida was a consensus pick to earn an NCAA bid in 2020 before it was canceled due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
More impressively, while at Florida White was one of only five Division I coaches to record a victory in each of the NCAA Tournaments between 2017-21 along with the impressive quintet of Bill Self, Mark Few, Jay Wright and Leonard Hamilton.
Kanon Takes Off In SEC Outings
Kanon Catchings' production has increased dramatically over the last nine games, a span that began with Georgia's game against Florida in Gainesville on Jan. 6
After averaging 8.3 points while shooting 38.8 percent from the field and 24.2 percent from 3-point range in the first 14 games of the season, Catchings has upped each effort to 15.3 ppg, 47.6 FG pct. (49-of-103) and 45.5 3FG pct. (25-of-55) in the nine most recent contests.
The sophomore from Brownsburg, Ind., notched four double-figure scoring tallies in the first 14 games before recording eight double-digit point performances his last nine outings, including a pair of 20-point tallies.
Bulldogs Among Nation's Top Offensive Teams
Georgia entered this week ranked No. 2 in D-I in scoring offense at 91.9 points per game.
Much of Georgia's production has come either in a hurry or while standing still.
The Bulldogs lead the country in fastbreak points (22.3 ppg) and are No. 8 free throws made (19.7 ppg). That equates to roughly 45.7 percent (42.0 of 91.9 ppg) of Georgia's offensive output.
Georgia's scoring has been consistent.
In 46 halves of hoops, the Bulldogs scored 40 or more points 37 times, with 11 50-point periods and three segments of 60 or more points.
Georgia played 102 games in Mike White's first three seasons in Athens. The Bulldogs reached 90 points nine times and 100 points twice. In 23 games this season, Georgia has topped 90 points in 12 outings and surpassed the century mark in a school-record seven contests.
Georgia Among Nation's Top-10 In Five Stats
Peruse the NCAA's statistical leaders and you'll find a multitude of categories featuring the Georgia Bulldogs at or near the top.
As of Monday, Georgia was ranked in the nation's top-25 teams in 10 of the 28 stats the NCAA measures, including five in the top 10 as outlined below.
| Top-10 Stats | ||
| Statistic | Rk. | No. |
|---|---|---|
| Fastbreak Points | 1 | 22.3 |
| Blocks Per Game | 1 | 6.9 |
| Scoring Offense | 2 | 91.9 |
| Bench Points | 8 | 35.62 |
| FTs Made Per Game | 8 | 19.7 |
Double-Digit Dogs' Have Hit Double Figures
No less than 10 different Georgia Bulldogs recorded double-figure scoring outputs in the first five games of the season.
Those Bulldogs have now combined to produce 95 double-digit performances.
Jeremiah Wilkinson leads that pack with 19, followed by Blue Cain with 18; Smurf Millender with 15; Kanon Catchings with 12; Somto Cyril with 10; Jordan Ross with seven; Jake Wilkins with five; Dylan James with four; Justin Bailey with three; and Kareem Stagg with two.
Seven of the aforementioned Bulldogs scored in double digits against Morehead State on Nov. 9. That marked the first time seven Bulldogs hit the 10-point plateau in a single game since a 99-72 decision over Tennessee Tech on Dec. 29, 1994 – a span of 979 contests.
Somto Surging On UGA Swatting Ledgers
Somto Cyril, who was named to the 2026 Naismith Men's College Defensive Player of the Year Watch List the Atlanta Tipoff Club in January, is quickly climbing on Georgia's single-season and career leaders lists for blocked shots.
In 33 games last season, Cyril swatted 51 shots, which was then the 11th-best tally ever by a Bulldog and the second-most by a Georgia freshman.
In 23 contests this season, the Enugu, Nigeria native has already blocked 61 shots. That's the No. 7 season mark by a Bulldog and 33 off the school record.
Cyril's numbers are bolstered two career-high outputs in SEC play – six against Auburn and eight versus Arkansas.
Cyril's 112 total rejections rank No. 12 among Georgia's career leaders, seven shy of the top-10.
Dogs' Dishing, Ball Control Considerably Better
Mike White has called the 2025-26 Bulldogs one of the better passing teams he's coached.
A year ago, the Bulldogs ranked No. 262 nationally in assists per game at 12.5 and No. 298 in assist-to-turnover ratio at 0.96. This season, Georgia entered this week well over 100 spots better in each stat – No. 128 in assists (14.9 apg) and No. 106 in assist-to-turnovers (1.34).
A large part of that is the performance of the four guards Georgia added via the transfer portal during the offseason – Justin Bailey, Marcus "Smurf" Millender, Jordan Ross and Jeremiah Wilkinson. That quartet has delivered a combined 199 passes-to-points while committing just 103 turnovers – equating to 8.7 apg and a stellar ratio of 1.93 assists-to-TOs.
Millender Tops Millennium Mark; More Dogs Approaching 1,000
Houston native Marcus "Smurf" Millender reached 1,000 career points with approximately 30 family and friends on hand for his return to the Lone Star State. Millender ascended to the millennium mark with a 3-pointer from the right wing with 15:22 left in the game at Texas.
Millender scored his 1000 points at three different schools, with 309 as a freshman at South Alabama, 461 as a sophomore at UT San Antonio and 230 in his junior campaign as a Bulldog.
Blue Cain and Jeremiah Wilkinson also are on pace to reach 1,000 career points this season.
Cain and Wilkinson have scored 896 and 878 points, respectively. At their current scoring averages, both Bulldogs would reach 1,000 points in eight games (the regular-season finale on March 7 at Mississippi State).
Cain would become the first player to score 1,000 points exclusively for Georgia since Yante Maten reached that plateau on Jan. 4, 2017.
Wilkinson Putting Up Big Numbers For Bulldogs
Jeremiah Wilkinson leads Georgia with eight 20-point outputs this season, including a pair of 30-point performances.
Wilkinson has three 20-point tallies in SEC play, popping for 31 against Auburn; putting up 32 versus Ole Miss, the single-game high of any Bulldog this season; and scoring 20 against Arkansas.
Big numbers have been a big part of the Powder Springs product's game.
Last season at Cal, he notched 10 20-point tallies and a pair of 30-point efforts for the Bears en route to winning ACC Sixth Man of the Year honors. Wilkinson's 10 20-point games for Cal were the second most in program history by a freshman behind only Shareef Abdur-Rahim.
Bulldogs Play School-Record Fourth Overtime Outing
Georgia's overtime setback to Tennessee on Jan. 27 was the Bulldogs' fourth contest this season that has been extended by five minutes to determine the outcome.
That ties Georgia's record for most OT games in a season. The Bulldogs have played four overtime outings eight different times, most recently in 2012-13. The other seasons were 2010-11, 1998-99, 1986-87, 1983-84, 1876-77 and 1959-60.
Georgia is 1-3 in overtime this season, defeating Auburn and falling to Clemson, Ole Miss and the Volunteers. The Bulldogs are now 61-82 all-time in games going to OT.
Smurf's Game Gets Bigger In Last 18 Outings
Marcus "Smurf" Millender's season-high 24-point outing against Auburn in the SEC opener headlines a strong series of performances over the Bulldogs' last 18 contests.
The stretch includes two dramatic game winners. Millender canned a clutch 3-pointer with 11 seconds left against Xavier in the opening round of the Shriners Children's Charleston Classic on Nov. 21 and converted a three-point play with 5.5 seconds left at Missouri on Jan. 20.
Millender has now put up double-digit scoring tallies in 13 of 18 games and distributed six or more assists in five of those contests.
After averaging 6.8 points in Georgia's first five games, he is contributing 13.1 ppg in the Bulldogs' last 18 outings.
Millender's efficiency from the field also has increased dramatically. After shooting 26.2 percent (11-of-42) overall and 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from 3-point range in the first five games, Millender has connected on 51.6 percent (80-of-155) including 44.4 percent (36-of-81) of his 3s, thereafter.
