COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 13th-ranked Georgia softball team defeated No. 9 South Carolina, 7-3, to open the weekend series between the two teams on Friday.
Sarah Gordon and Mua Williams led the Bulldogs on offense with multi-hit performances, including a home run each, while Randi Roelling went the distance in the circle as Georgia improved its record to 21-4 overall and 2-2 in SEC play.

- Gordon led the Bulldogs on offense, hitting 2-of-3 with a two-run triple in the second inning and a solo home run in the sixth to power the Georgia bats in Columbia.
- With the Bulldogs leading, 4-2, heading into the fourth inning, Williams blasted a solo shot to left field for the first home run of her career. Williams went 2-of-4 on the day for her third multi-hit performance of the season.
- Roelling earned the win in the circle to improve to 6-2 on the season, pitching a complete game and allowing three runs on seven hits while recording a strikeout.
- Dallis Goodnight crossed home plate three times in four at-bats to help the Bulldogs put seven runs on the board. She recorded a double, walk, and stolen base while batting in the leadoff position.
