QUICK KICKS
Georgia vs. Alabama (In Soccer)
Georgia, now ranked 31st in the NCAA RPI rankings, returns home to Athens for a matchup with Alabama Sunday at the Turner Soccer Complex. Both teams enter Sunday's match following ties on Thursday evening, with the Bulldogs drawing Kentucky and the Crimson Tide knotting Missouri. Despite leading the overall series, Georgia is looking for its first victory over Alabama since a 3-0 win in 2010 in Tuscaloosa. The Bulldogs have earned ties in two of their past three meetings with the Tide, including a 1-1 result in last season's SEC opener at Bama.

Sunday's matchup comes one day after the much-anticipated football game between Georgia and Alabama. In 2021, Georgia soccer last played two opponents on the same weekend as football meetings, splitting the contests: a 3-1 win over Clemson (Sept. 2) and a 4-1 loss against Arkansas (Oct. 3).

Raining Cats and Dawgs
In driving rain in Lexington, Georgia earned an important road point with a 1-1 tie at Kentucky. In the 80th minute, graduate forward Hannah White played a long ball from fellow grad forward Margie Detrizio before switching feet and scoring up top from 12 yards out for the equalizer. The score was White's third goal of the season and Detrizio's second assist this year. Junior goalkeeper Jordan Brown continued her terrific play with six saves, her seventh match of the season with at least five stops.

Dawg Bites
  • Through 11 matches, junior goalkeeper Jordan Brown has provided outstanding play for Georgia, tallying 65 saves and a 1.00 GAA. Brown is currently on pace to set a new program record for saves per game in a season (5.90). Her 65 saves also lead the SEC and ranks ninth nationally, along with being 24 ahead of Oklahoma's Caroline Duffy.
  • Georgia's three shots on goal Thursday was the fewest for the Bulldogs in a result since posting the same number in last season's SEC Tournament championship.
  • With the Kentucky tie, Georgia improved to 10-2-5 against SEC opponents in road / neutral matches under Keidane McAlpine.
  • Assistant coach Rade Tanaskovic returned to the Georgia coaching staff for Thursday's match after serving on the United States staff for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Colombia. Tanaskovic helped the U.S. earn third place in the tournament, allowing only seven goals with two shutouts.
  • Georgia has displayed a great ability to play with the lead this season, holding a 5-0-1 record when scoring first in a match. Nonetheless, Thursday's tie at Kentucky was their first result this season when not scoring first.

Up Next
Georgia returns to the road next Friday for its first-ever meeting against Oklahoma on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. EDT in Norman. The Bulldogs have only played in the Sooner State once before: a 4-0 loss at Oklahoma State in 2015.
