ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia women's basketball team fell to Tennessee, 95-73, in Stegeman Coliseum before 2,596 spectators Thursday night.
Tennessee (13-7, 6-2 SEC) used three triples to build a 15-7 lead early. Georgia (10-11, 1-7 SEC) spread its scoring around the court but were unable to claim the lead as they trailed 19-14 after the first quarter.
The Lady Vols opened the second period with an 11-0 run to put them ahead 32-14. The Lady Bulldogs responded with six points of their own, but Tennessee used four points to close the half leading, 41-24.
Georgia took to shooting behind the perimeter, sinking four triples. A back-and-forth effort from both sides allowed the Lady Vols to continue to build upon their lead, taking a 66-54 advantage into the final frame.
Tennessee used short scoring runs throughout the fourth quarter to finish ahead 95-73.

"That's how they play, they force you to shoot outside shots, that's how they play," head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson said. "We actually force our opponents not to shoot outside shots, we want to pressure you really hard and make you drive to the paint because we've got bigs down there. They just did a good job, Rickea (Jackson) is just so good that you have to pay attention to her all of the time, you really have to know where she's at because she could get 40 points on you. She'll probably be the fourth or fifth pick in the WNBA draft. We had to really focus on her. This is the best they've shot three-pointers this year."
