GAME NOTES

ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia soccer team will open SEC play on the road at No. 9 South Carolina on Friday, September 20 at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs will return home for their final non-conference game of the season and to honor their seniors on Sunday, September 22 against Furman.  That match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and admission to the Turner Soccer Complex is free.

LAST TIME IN COLUMBIA
Down 1-0 with 46 seconds remaining in regulation, then- freshman Katie Ralys scored the equalizer to send the Bulldogs into overtime against then-no. 3 South Carolina at Stone Stadium.  The game ended in a 1-1 draw after double overtime.

HISTORY VS. FURMAN
Although the Bulldogs and Paladins have met in preseason exhibition action, the teams have not played during the regular season since 2014.  Georgia is undefeated against Furman and riding a five-game win streak.

ANYONE HAVING DEJA JU?
Junior Mollie Belisle immediately made an impact after taking the field for the first time since suffering from an ACL injury last season. She debuted to start the second half against Georgia Southern and gave Georgia the 1-0 lead six minutes later. That game was deemed a no contest after 53 minutes of play due lightning and a torrential downpour rolling into the Athens area, so unfortunately that goal doesn't count for Belisle.

BUT much like in that game, she took the field to start the second half at Georgia State and scored off an assist from sophomore Weldon Kolker to give Georgia the 2-0 lead at the 50-minute mark. Those minutes and goal counted!

CELEBRATING SENIORS
Georgia will celebrate it's seniors on Sunday, September 22 in the final non-conference game of the season. Keely Cartrett and Daria Stan along with Jessie Harvey will be honored prior to the match against Furman that's scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

CHAPMAN LEADS THE TEAM
After Georgia's game at Clemson, freshman Chloe Chapman leads the team with three goals on the season.

HIGH SCORING GAMES
The five goals by the Bulldogs in game four against Maryland is tied for the second highest goals scored under head coach Billy Lesesne. Georgia defeated Coastal Carolina, 9-1, in 2017 and Charlotte, 5-1, in 2018.

The four goals by the Bulldogs in game two against Binghamton is the third highest.

A SOLID BACKLINE
» To start the season at Purdue, the defenders were able to keep the Boilermakers out of the final third for the first 15 minutes of the game and stayed solid throughout.
» Against Binghamton in game two, the Bulldogs held the Bearcats to one shot in the entire 90 minute match.
» Georgia only allowed two shots at Georgia State, one of which came in the final two minutes of the game. The Bulldogs did not allow a corner kick.
» The Bulldogs have held their opponents to 10 or less shots four times in seven games.

ONE SMART COOKIE
Caroline Chipman is the UGA Athletic Association's female winner of the 2019-20 Joel Eaves Award.  The award is presented to the male and female student-athletes with the highest GPA upon entering the fall semester of his or her senior year, based upon academic hours rather than eligibility.  Additionally, a student-athlete must have earned at least two varsity letters to be eligible for the award.

WINNING IN WHITE
Georgia is 2-0 when wearing white jerseys this season. The games also happen to be on Sunday afternoons. The Bulldogs combined for nine goals in two games against Binghamton and Maryland at home in Athens.

20 WINS FOR LESESNE
Georgia's home opening shutout against Binghamton marked the 20th win for head coach Billy Lesesne.

STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAAC) REPS
» Ashley Andersen, Liz Brucia, Jessie Denney, and Katie Higgins will represent the soccer team on SAAC this year.
» SAAC is a chance to give student-athletes a voice-  assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience and offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on campus.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
» Eight out of nine freshmen on the Georgia roster have seen playing time so far this season. (Lizzie Ammon has not played due to injury.)
» Freshmen Haley Sorrell and Mallie McKenzie have made their starting lineup debuts.
» Three rookie Bulldogs have scored five of Georgia's twelve goals so far this season. Chloe Chapman leads the team after scoring a goal at Clemson to add to her two goals against Maryland. Macie Witter scored the team's fourth goal against Binghamton and Tori Wheeler scored the game-winner at Georgia State.
