Associate Head Coach (2024-Present)
In his second season as associate head coach, Jarryd Chaplin has become a key contributor to the success attained alongside second-year head coach Drake Bernstein. In year two on staff, Chaplin helped coach Georgia to a 29-3 overall record with a No. 1 ranking finish after capping off the year with a trio of titles, winning the 2025 NCAA Championship (third in program history), the 2025 ITA National Team Indoor title (fifth in program history) and a third-consecutive SEC Tournament title (11th in program history). Georgia also finished 13-2 in conference regular season play, good for second place in the SEC standings. Chaplin’s guidance has become instrumental to Georgia’s doubles success since arriving in Athens, helping the Bulldogs go 28-4 in doubles points in 2025, an improvement from a successful 23-7 doubles point record in 2024. His impact in 2025 earned him ITA Southeast Regional Assistant Coach of the Year for a second consecutive season since arriving in Athens, marking his fourth overall ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year honor.
Jarryd Chaplin was named associate head coach for the University of Georgia women’s tennis team in June of 2023. In his first season as associate head coach, Chaplin served as a key addition to the Bulldogs’ staff under first-year head coach Drake Bernstein, where his services focused intensely on the team’s doubles development. His doubles impact proved to be crucial to Georgia’s success in 2024, helping lead the Bulldogs to a 25-5 overall record with a 12-1 mark in SEC play, finishing No. 3 nationally while winning both SEC regular season and tournament titles before orchestrating a deep run to end the year as NCAA Finalists. Chaplin was also key in the progression for the 2024 NCAA Doubles Championship duo of Dasha Vidmanova and Aysegul Mert, who delivered the first NCAA doubles title in program history. At the conclusion of the spring, Chaplin was named the 2024 ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year, becoming the second associate coach in program history to win the award and the first since Debbie Beck in 2001. He also won the 2024 ITA Southeast Regional Assistant Coach of the Year award, marking his third overall ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year honor.
Tennessee Associate Head Coach (2020-23)
Chaplin arrived at Georgia after four seasons at his alma mater, the University of Tennessee, where he was an associate head coach on Alison Ojeda’s women’s tennis program. During this stretch, Tennessee consistently finished in the top 25 of the final ITA rankings.
In 2023, Tennessee finished 21-6 overall while marking a program-record 11 win in SEC regular season play. The Lady Vols finished No. 14 in the final ITA rankings after reaching the NCAA round of 16 as Chaplin claimed the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Assistant Coach of the Year award for the second time in his career. In 2022, Chaplin helped coach Tennessee to a 16-10 overall mark, ranking as high as No. 16 before reaching the NCAA Regional second round. In 2021, the Lady Vols went 17-9 on the year while going unbeaten at home, finishing No. 18 in the final ITA rankings following a run to the NCAA Regional second round. Chaplin’s efforts earned him his first ITA Ohio Valley Region Assistant Coach of the Year Award as well as a promotion to associate head coach. In his first season as assistant coach in Knoxville, Chaplin helped lead the Lady Vols to a 10-3 record before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Vanderbilt Volunteer Assistant (2018-19)
Chaplin began his collegiate coaching career at Vanderbilt where he spent two season as a volunteer assistant. In 2019, the Commodores finished the season 19-8 overall with a 10-3 SEC record before reaching the NCAA quarterfinals. In 2018, Vanderbilt produced one of its best seasons in program history, finishing the year 27-4 overall while going 12-1 in SEC play, winning both the SEC regular season and tournament titles before making a run as NCAA Finalists.
Playing Career (2011-17)
A native of Sydney, Australia, Chaplin was a standout competitor at Tennessee from 2011-14. He compiled a 74-44 doubles record as well as a 64-55 singles record through four seasons in Knoxville. Earning All-SEC second team honors in 2013, Chaplin was a three-time All-SEC Academic selection, ITA Scholar-Athlete as well as a two-time SEC Community Service Team honoree. He received a bachelors degree in business administration before spending time on the professional circuit where he achieved an ATP doubles career-high ranking of No. 155.
Personal Life
Chaplin is engaged to his fiancé, Erin Holland, as has a dog named Izzy.
