Georgia Opens Fall Season at Kitty Harrison Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia women's tennis team officially opens its 2026 fall season this weekend, competing as individuals in singles and doubles at the Kitty Harrison Invitational Sept. 11-13 at the Chewning Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The tournament is held in honor of Kitty Harrison, who served as North Carolina's women's tennis head coach from 1977-98 and led the Tar Heels to four ACC championships. The other teams in the field are Charlotte, Duke, Elon, James Madison, Kansas State, Michigan, North Carolina and Virginia.

Friday marks the beginning of head coach Drake Bernstein's fourth season at the helm of the Bulldogs. Last season, Bernstein guided Georgia to a 22-6 overall record, a No. 3 final national ranking, a fourth-consecutive NCAA Championship semifinal appearance and the program's ninth ITA National Team Indoor Championship.

- Georgia has six players ranked in the ITA preseason singles rankings, led by senior Aysegul Mert at No. 5. Deniz Dilek is ranked No. 27, followed by Anastasiia Gureva at No. 38, Emma Dong at No. 54, Linea Bajraliu at No. 80 and Ranah Stoiber at No. 113.
- Dong and freshman Bella Payne lead the Bulldogs at No. 12 in the ITA preseason doubles rankings. Dilek and Mert are ranked No. 19, while Gureva and Patricija Paukstyte check in at No. 24.
- Bajraliu enters the season ranked No. 2 in the ITA newcomer rankings, while Stoiber is ranked No. 15.
