Four Bulldogs Earn All-America Honors

Fan Voting Open For Jackson For The Golden Spikes Award
OMAHA, NEB.-----The postseason honors continue to roll in for the 2026 Georgia Bulldogs here at the College World Series as four earned All-America distinction from various outlets, it was announced Thursday.
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) named Georgia junior catcher Daniel Jackson and junior third baseman Tre Phelps a first team All-American. Georgia graduate pitcher Caden Aoki made the second team while junior pitcher Joey Volchko landed on the third team. Jackson, who is a finalist for several national awards including the Dick Howser Trophy and the Golden Spikes Award, is batting .396 with 31 home runs, 86 RBI and 26 stolen bases. He has started all 63 games including 53 at catcher. He is one of only three players (and first catcher) in Division 1 history to have at least 30 home runs and 25 stolen bases in the same season.
Phelps is batting .364 with 19 home runs and 58 RBI in 61 games, all starts. Aoki is 9-1 with a 4.04 ERA and three saves. He has made 19 appearances including eight starts. Volchko has served as Georgia's top starter all season, going 10-2 with a 4.07 ERA in 17 starts.
The NCBWA announced its District Players of the Year selections for all nine U.S. districts for the 2026 season. The 2026 standouts include Jackson for District 4 which includes players from Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Maryland.
On Friday at 11 a.m. ET, the NCBWA will announce the 2026 winner of the Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear here at Charles Schwab Park. This award goes to the NCAA Division I baseball player of the year. The NCBWA was founded in 1962 and is the sport's only college media-related organization.
In related baseball news, Jackson and Phelps were named first team All-Americans by Perfect Game who also announced Jackson as their Player of the Year.
The American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings recently announced the eight NCAA Division 1 All-Region Teams. Jackson, Phelps and senior shortstop Kolby Branch made the first team in the Southeast Region while senior first baseman Michael O'Shaughnessy and Aoki made the second team. First Team All-Region selections are eligible for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-America teams will be announced Friday prior to the start of the NCAA Division I CWS here.
Branch, an Academic All-America candidate, has started all 63 games at shortstop while batting .297 with 19 home runs and 58 RBI. O'Shaughnessy has appeared in 52 games with 42 starts around the infield. He is batting .294 with 20 home runs and 55 RBI.
The ABCA/Rawlings postseason awards schedule continues with the announcement of the NCAA Division I Gold Glove finalists on Monday, June 15, via X by Rawlings Sporting Goods (@RawlingsSports), followed by the Gold Glove winners in all divisions on Wednesday, June 17. ABCA/Rawlings National Pitchers and Position Players of the Year across all divisions will be announced on Monday, June 22. The ABCA All-America Team was first recognized in 1949. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.

Georgia will hold a 50-minute practice Thursday from 3:10-4 pm CT at Charles Schwab Field and then participate in media day followed by Opening Ceremonies tonight at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. The Bulldogs (51-12) will face Texas (45-13) in their first College World Series game Saturday at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN).
