Bulldogs Cap Regular Season with Pair of School Records, Multiple Top Marks on Senior Day

ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia track and field's Jonathan Simms and Kimani Jack both set school records to close out the regular season competition at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial at the Spec Towns Track on Saturday evening.

The Bulldogs will now take the week off to prepare to defend their 2025 outdoor conference title at the 2026 SEC Outdoor Championships hosted by Auburn this year at Hutsell-Rosen Track on May 14-16.

- The first school record of the day fell by way of freshman Simms in the men's 400 meter. Simms went stride-for-stride with reigning 2025 NCAA outdoor champion Samuel Ogazi of Alabama, with the race decided by just 0.005 seconds.
- Simm's 44.02 mark stands as the 2026 current world lead, ranks No. 2 on the U20 world list, No. 6 on the all-time collegiate list and No. 17 all-time among American performers.
- Fellow freshman Sidi Njie added to the momentum with an overall career-best of 45.13, moving to No. 6 in Georgia history and No. 10 in the NCAA this season.
- Meanwhile, in the men's high jump, graduate transfer Kimani Jack put on a show of his own, clearing on his first attempt up until the 2.31m/7-7 mark. Jack missed his first attempt at the record-setting height, then on his second attempt he cleared with room to spare. He now holds both the indoor and outdoor school records, while also setting the 2026 NCAA and United Kingdom leads. His mark ranks No. 22 on the all-time collegiate list.
- Junior Mohamed Adoini contributed another standout performance on the track with a career-best 49.04 finish in the men's 400m hurdles. Adoini now sits at No. 2 in the current NCAA rankings, No. 4 in UGA history and No. 10 in the 2026 world rankings.
- Additional highlights on the men's side included a runner-up 4x100 meter relay performance by freshmen Brayden Williams, Jayden Dailey, Jayden Finley and Maurice Gleaton at 38.92, which ranks No. 4 in UGA History and No. 11 in the current NCAA standings. Dailey also had an impressive individual outing in the men's 100 meter dash, posting a 10.07 (-0.4 m/s) which puts him at No. 7 in the UGA record books and No. 10 in the current NCAA standings.
- Over in the men's javelin, Bulldog duo Jordan Davis and Nick Reynolds claimed the top spots with Davis claiming the event win on a heave of 80.31m/263-6, his second 80-meter throw of the season. Reynolds followed with a career-best performance of 77.55m/254-5, which ranks No. 5 in UGA history and No. 6 nationally.
- On the women's side the Bulldogs collected nine event victories and made six alternations to the UGA record book.
- On the track, the first win of the day came in the women's 4x100 meter relay with a 43.73 by way of all freshmen squad Celeste Robinson, Lisa Raye, Keelan Wright and Ava Kitchings.
- Over in the women's 400 meter, senior Dejanea Oakley captured the event win with a 50.56 finish.
- In the hurdles rendition of the 400 meter, sophomore Michelle Smith claimed the top finish at 55.41.
- In the women's 100 meter dash senior Kaila Jackson claimed the win with an 11.20 (0.2 m/s) finish and Raye followed in second with a career-best of 11.25 (1.1 m/s), which is T-No.7 in UGA history. Jackson also picked up a win in the 200 meter dash with a finish of 22.6.
- In the women's 3000 meter two Bulldogs found their way into the recordbook. Senior Yasna Petrova won the event with a 9:46.42 finish, which ranks No. 9 in school history. Freshman Addison Scott followed in second, crossing the line at 9:49.50, which ranks No. 10 in UGA history.
- Similarly in the women's 100 meter hurdles, two Bulldogs made alterations to the record books freshman Zoe Ziglor posted a 12.95 (0.9 m/s) finish to tie for second in UGA history and fellow freshman Chelsi Williams crossed the line at 13.01 (0.9 m/s), which ranks fifth in program history.
- In the women's 4x400 meter relay the quartet of freshman Skylar Brazzell, Smith, freshman Adaejah Hodge and senior Vimbayi Maisvorewa finished out the meet with an event win on the track at 3:27.83, which ranks the squad No. 8 in program history.
- Meanwhile in the field events, Williams claimed a win in the long jump with a leap of 6.35m/20-10 (1.4 m/s) and sophomore Danah Nembhard also claimed a win but in the women's triple jump at 13.16/43-2.25 (0.3 m/s).
