Track and Field Earns Four SEC Weekly Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Georgia track & field collects four Southeastern Conference weekly awards for their performances at LSU's Battle on the Bayou, announced Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman Jonathan Simms was named Men's Co-Runner of the Week after an impressive finish in the men's 400 meter.
The McKinney, Texas native clocked a 44.76 finish to claim the event win at LSU's Battle on the Bayou. Simm's finish registered as a meet record, 2026 NCAA lead and ranks third in program history outdoors.
Fellow freshman Le'Ezra Brown was named Men's Freshman of the Week for a stellar performance in the men's 110m hurdles.
The Greensboro, N.C. native delivered a school record breaking performance with a 13.29 (+1.9m/s) finish in the men's 110m hurdles. That finish earned him the event win, set a new meet record and ranks second in the current NCAA standings.
On the women's side, freshman Adaejah Hodge also collected an award from her outstanding pair of performances in the women's 4x100 meter and 100 Meter dash; she was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week.
The Douglasville, Ga. native clocked an 11.04 (+2.4m/s) in the women's 100m dash, good for the event win, second in the current NCAA rankings and a new British Virgin Islands National Record. Hodge also served as the third leg on the Georgia 4x100m relay squad that broke the school record at 42.62. That time leads the NCAA, ranks second in the world and No. 11 all-time in collegiate history.
Sophomore Skylynn Townsend took home Women's Co-Field Athlete of the Week honor.
The Prosper, Texas native recorded an all-conditions career best jump of 13.67m/44-10.25 (+2.5m/s) in the triple jump at LSU's Battle on the Bayou. That mark earned her the event win and set the NCAA lead.
The Bulldogs will host the 2026 Spec Towns Invitational at the new Spec Towns Track at the UGA Track & Field Complex. Competition is scheduled for April 9-11.
