ATHENS, Ga. —  Georgia took control of the national lead in the men's 4x400-meter relay as well as the high jump and twice surpassed the school record in the 110m hurdles as the Spec Towns Invitational wrapped up Saturday.

This weekend marked the first meet for the Bulldogs at the Spec Towns Track at the newly completed UGA Track & Field Complex on South Milledge.

Highlights From Saturday: Georgia had sensational moments both on the track and in the field on the final day of the three-day meet under cloudless skies:

*Freshman Le'Ezra Brown registered his second school record of the day with a 13.22 to win the 110m hurdles.  This improved his No. 2 spot on the 2026 national list.  In the opening round, Brown topped his own school record with a wind legal 13.23 to be the top finisher.  Also, sophomore Jayden Keys was the runner-up in the prelims with a personal best 13.63, inching up his No. 5 time on UGA's all-time top 10 list, before taking second in the final (13.76).
*Xai Ricks, Sidi Njie, Jonathan Simms and Mohamed Adoini took the track in the men's 4x400m relay and left with a national leading finish.  The Bulldog quartet ran a 3:01.15 to win by exactly a second and take over the No. 3 spot in the school record books.  Simms' third leg was clocked a 43.98 setting up the UGA victory.
*Junior high jumper Kimani Jack moved into a tie at No. 8 on UGA's all-time top 10 list thanks to a first attempt clearance at 2.24m/7-4.25.  This not only won him the meet, but he surged him into the top spot on the country's performance list for 2026.  In addition, Riyon Rankin also moved into the top 10 nationally with a third attempt clearance at 2.16m/7-1.
*Freshman Maddi Cooper was the top collegiate finisher (second overall) in the 100m hurdle final after clocking a 13.43 while Zoe Ziglor took third (13.57).  Cooper was the top collegiate finisher (second overall) in the 100m hurdle prelims with a personal record 13.21, which shaved .01 off her No. 7 time in the school record books.  Taylor Cox broke into the all-time top 10 list with her personal record 13.23 to take third overall in the opening round before taking a fall in the final.
*Cooper led off the women's 4x100m and the final three Lady Bulldogs – Lisa Raye, Sanaa Frederick and Celeste Robinson – combined to win with a 43.87.
*Moving into the No. 9 spot last week, Vimbayi Maisvorewa shaved .05 off her season best time with a 51.66 to win the 400m.  Sole Frederick earned third-place honors with a 51.97 in the event.
*The Lady Bulldogs went 1-2-3 in the 100m, led by senior Kaila Jackson's 11.03.  Jackson's time ranks No. 4 on the 2026 national list and puts her in position to attempt to claim yet another First Team All-America certificate when the season concludes.  Reign Redmond (11.37 – 11.368) and Ava Kitchings (11.37 – 11.373) claimed the second and third spots, respectively, and moved into a time for 10th in the school record books.
*Georgia had the top two collegiate finishers in the women's 4x400m relay (first and third overall) with a pair of top 10 times in the UGA record books.  Maisvorewa, Michelle Smith, Shaquena Foote and Dejanea Oakley combined to record the No. 3 time in school history with a 3:24.29.  Battling former Lady Bulldog legend Aaliyah Butler who ran a 48.66 split in the anchor, Oakley countered with a 49.86 on the final leg to hold on to the win.  In the same heat, Sole Frederick, Skylar Brazzell, Sydney Harris and Tianna Springer passed the baton to a 3:27.39 for third place at the meet and fifth on Georgia's all-time top 10 list.
*Georgia was also exceptional in the field events during its first home meet at the new facility.  Junior Nina Ndubuisi popped a mark of 17.36 meters/56 feet, 11 ½ inches on her second try to take fifth in the women's shot put.  This effort shot her to third on the school record books and eighth on this year's national list.  Also of note, Ndubuisi moved into the No. 10 spot in the school record books in the discus with an effort of 48.80m/160-1.  Teammate Kelsie Murrell-Ross managed an eighth-place finish in the shot put with what is now the country's No. 18 mark of the year (16.57m/54-4.50).
*Skylynn Townsend started her triple jump series with a foul and responded with a winning mark of 13.57m/44-6.25.
*On the men's side, freshman Marcus Eklund had a season best (15.11m/49-7) to finish first in the triple jump.

Up Next: Georgia will split squads to the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Fla., and to the Wake Forest invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., next weekend.
