Georgia Falls to Texas A&M in SEC Equestrian Championship

AUBURN, Ala. – The Georgia equestrian team fell to Texas A&M in the finals of the SEC Equestrian Championship in Auburn, Ala.

  • In Flat, Georgia took a 3-2 win over the Aggies. Senior Tessa Brown earned the seventh Fences win of the season, riding to a score of 85. Senior Maggie Bresch secured her point, following her 86.33-point ride. Also riding to an 86.33, Parker Cliff added a point to the Bulldogs' total.
  • Georgia fell 4-1 in Reining. Kennedy Buchanan earned the lone point for the Bulldogs. Her score of 71.67 not only captured her point but earned her the third MOP nod of the season.
  • To close out the Jumping Seat competition, Georgia took a 3-2 win. Ella Witt captured her point with an 84.67-point ride. Tessa Brown secured the second point for the Bulldogs with her score of 86.33. Junior Tessa Downey led all Fences scores for the day, with her score of 88 and was honored with her fourth MOP award of the season.
  • The Bulldogs defeated the Gamecocks 3-2 in Horsemanship. Freshman Ava Hathaway earned the first point in the discipline, defeating her opponent 73.83-71.17. Abbey Zawisza captured her point to add to the total for Georgia, with a 74-point performance. With the pressure on, Kendall McClintock rode to her second-highest score this season, a 75.67, to force the 10-10 tie.
  • As the meet concluded at a 10-10 tie, raw scores determined the champion. The Aggies edged out the Bulldogs, 1638.17-1632.92, to secure the title.
