March 20, 2026 | Equestrian

ATHENS, Ga. - University of Georgia equestrian team senior Tessa Brown was named as the Top Female Collegiate Honoree at the Peach of an Athlete Role Model Banquet presented by the Atlanta Area Council, Scouting America.

Brown, along with nine other honorees, were recognized at the annual Peach of an Athlete Role Model Banquet on March 17 at Truist Park. Each year, the Atlanta Area Council and Scouts of America honor student-athletes from the state of Georgia or enrolled in a college or university in Georgia, who have distinguished themselves by their character, scholastic achievement, academic excellence and community service – characteristics taught every day in the Scouting program. The Scouting organization takes great pride in recognizing those who serve as good "Role Models for Youth."

As a native of Bloomfield, Connecticut, Brown has received numerous accolades throughout her career with the Bulldogs including multiple SEC and NCEA Ariat Rider of the Month honors. Following her freshman season in 2023, she was named to the SEC All-Freshman team. She found herself on the NCEA Ariat All-America First Team after her role in Georgia's 2025 National Championship run. In her senior season, Brown was selected as a captain by her teammates for her leadership in and out of the arena. She has compiled over 40 wins, as well as a total of nine Most Outstanding Performer honors during her illustrious Bulldog career.

The Public Relations major and International Affairs minor boasts a 3.8 grade point average, which has landed her a variety of academic honors including NCEA All-Academic First Team nods and a UGA Athletics Presidential Scholar recognition in addition to being named to the honor roll across multiple semesters.

Brown is highly involved in the community. She is the founder of the PenPal Project, a mentorship program that pairs UGA athletes with fourth grade students from Athens-area schools, that focuses on enhancing literacy skills and fostering meaningful relationships between student-athletes and young learners. She also serves as the Athletic Coordinator for the Equus Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting animals by working with athletes to promote the foundation's core message and commitment to horse welfare.
