Bulldogs win Southern Intercollegiate, Moloney finishes runner-up

ATHENS, Ga. – The Georgia men's golf team won the Southern Intercollegiate tournament at home in Athens Country Club, shooting 11-over par.

After round one, Georgia and Mercer were tied at 1-under par, but Georgia prevailed in round two. The Bulldogs won by six shots over Western Carolina in second at 17-over par and Mercer in third at 24-over par.

Matt Moloney led the team, shooting even par. The sophomore was tied for the lead after round one, but still held on for second, the highest finish of his college career.

Senior Carter Loflin finished tied for fifth at 4-over par, marking his fifth top ten finish of the year.

Grayson Wood, James Earle and JD Culbreth all finished in the top ten, with these three shooting 5-over par to finish T7. Their finishes mark the first time five Bulldogs have finished in the top ten since 2023.

Competing as an individual, Will Guthrie finished T16 at 7-over par. This is the freshman's highest finish of his young Georgia career.
The Bulldogs will stick close to home this week as they compete at the Linger Longer Invitational at the Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga. The tournament will run from Friday, March 20, to Sunday, March 22.
