Women finish third, men take fifth in league's team race
Live Results
College Station, Texas — Georgia collected individual gold medals in the women's 200-meter dash, women's triple jump and men's high jump to highlight the 19 UGA scorers on the final day of the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday.
The UGA women scored 68 points to finish third behind Florida (77) and Arkansas (73). The men registered a fifth-place finish thanks to 56 points while Arkansas (113.2), Ole Miss (67), Texas A&M (66.2) and Florida (58) rounded out the rest of the top five.
Fast Facts:
· The Georgia women went 1-2 in the triple jump with sophomore Skylynn Townsend traveling a personal record distance of 13.50 meters/44 feet, 3 ½ inches after three fouls in a row to collect her first SEC gold medal. This edges her from seventh to sixth in the school record books and is the first title in the event for Georgia since Mikeisha Welcome two years ago. Right behind Townsend was silver medalist Danah Nembhard, who completed her six efforts with a top mark of 13.30m/43-7.75.
· Junior transfer Kimani Jack soared over 2.28m/7-5.75 on his second attempt in the high jump to win Georgia its first SEC title in the event since Darius Carbin in 2017. This tied Keenon Laine's school record from the 2019 meet, gave him a facility record, improved his own NCAA lead and moved him to No. 10 in the world (top U.K. effort in 2026). Senior training partner Brion Stephens approached his season best with a first try clearance at 2.10m/7-2.25 for fourth place.
· Redshirt freshman Adaejah Hodge won Georgia its first SEC championship in the women's 200m since Olympic medalist Lynna Irby finished first in 2018. Hodge blazed to a British Virgin Islands, school and facility record with a world leading 22.32 to leave the competition behind. She takes over as the No. 5 all-time collegiate performer with the No. 9 all-time collegiate performance and her time goes down as the eighth best in world indoor history.
· The UGA women combined for 11 points in the 60m final with Hodge leading the way. Hodge crossed the line in 7.18 for fourth place, finishing just ahead of senior Kaila Jackson (7.20), who was fifth. Sophomore Reign Redmond completed the scoring for Georgia thanks to her 7.22 for seventh place.
· Senior Dejanea Oakley made a two-spot improvement from her 2025 SEC showing to lock down a silver medal in the 400m. Oakley won the first section in 51.21 as she will now prepare for Nationals.
· Oakley was the lead on the 4x400m relay with Skylar Brazzell, Vimbayi Maisvorewa and Shaquena Foote completing the foursome that took third place. The quartet combined for a 3:26.88 to establish the second-best time in school history. Foote's anchor leg of 51.27 put them in the mix of the top three that were only separated by .07 seconds.
· During the meet's final event, the men's 4x400m relay went 3:04.60 to finish with a silver medal. Jonathan Simms, Xai Ricks, Will Floyd and Mohamed Adoini combined to pass the baton around to get on the podium and will now see many of the same foes in two weeks at the NCAA Championships. Simms leadoff split of 45.68 was faster than the team's second, third and fourth legs.
· The Lady Bulldogs had two in the top six in the women's shot put. Junior transfer Nina Ndubuisi sent her fifth effort of 17.42m/57-2 to finish nearly a foot ahead of the fifth-place finisher. Senior Kelsie Murrell-Ross popped a season best 16.89m/55-5 toss on her third attempt to lock down sixth place by more than three feet.
· Georgia's freshmen in the men's 400m continued to show the future is bright in the quarter mile. Jonathan Simms earned a bronze medal with a 45.23 while Sidi Njie added a point with an eighth-place finish thanks to his 45.79.
· Junior Ryan Olree represented for the Distance Dawgs by taking fourth in the men's mile. He completed his eight laps in 4:03.66 and held off the next competitor by .05.
· Freshman Maddi Cooper advanced to Saturday's final and completed the 60m hurdle race in seventh. She ran an 8.05 to continue her consistency in the event.
· On the men's side, freshman Le'Ezra Brown left the track with sixth in the 60m hurdles thanks to his 7.64.
· As she patiently awaits the 400m hurdles outdoors, sophomore Michelle Smith followed up her prelims personal best with an eighth-place finish in the 800m final (2:08.66).
