Georgia Falls to No. 1 Auburn, 11-9, to Conclude Regular Season

BISHOP, Ga. – The No. 3-ranked University of Georgia equestrian team fell to No. 1 Auburn, 11-9, at the UGA Equestrian Complex on Saturday in the team's final regular season meet of the year.

- Auburn defeated the Bulldogs 4-1 in Fences. Junior Tessa Downey earned Georgia's sole point in the event with a season-high tying score of 85.5 to earn her eighth win of the year.
- Georgia bested the Tigers 3-2 in the Horsemanship competition. Senior Kendall McClintock captured the first point for the Bulldogs in the discipline, after riding to a score of 73.5. Junior Abbey Zawisza added another point to the total for the Bulldogs, receiving a 76 for her performance, while junior Lyla Bellar followed closely behind with a score of 75 to win her point.
- The Bulldogs overtook Auburn 3-2 in Flat. Seniors Tessa P. Brown and Ella Duffy, along with freshman Kingsley Dey, captured their points for Georgia, as Brown led the Bulldogs with a score of 81.5.
- The Tigers edged out Georgia 3-2 in Reining. Freshman Avery Taylor led the way for the Bulldogs with a score of 71.25, despite not winning her point. Junior Cadence Eger secured the first of two points for Georgia, with a score 67.75. Senior Raegan Shepherd earned her eighth win of the season, thanks to her score of 69.25.
- Most Outstanding Performer honors were awarded to Tessa Brown for her performance in Flat, the senior's second MOP nod in Flat and ninth overall.

On the team's performance…
I really love the grit and the comeback of this team. When you look at the two final scores, there were less than two points separating us from Auburn. They came out here really hungry, and we had to come back from behind to put things to the test. I'm proud of this team and their grit and determination. We saw some really good riding and overcame some adversity. We had to switch arenas and locations. There were so many things going on that were outside of our control, so I really appreciate that effort.
