Let's Recap
Georgia won a pair of four-set matches at Stegeman Coliseum over the weekend, beating the Arkansas Razorbacks and Oklahoma Sooners. The Bulldogs remained undefeated at home at 8-0 on the season and lengthened their win streak to eight matches, the longest by Georgia since 2016. Bianna Muoneke put up 21 kills against Arkansas, her fifth 20-kill match of the season. She recorded the 1,000th point of her UGA career in the match. Muoneke had 10 kills in the second set. That mark sets a new Georgia record for kills in a single set, topping the mark of nine that she tied earlier in the season (Sept. 8 vs. Notre Dame). Gigi Artiles tallied 16 kills on a .364 hitting clip. Head Coach Tom Black earned his 400th career victory as a head coach with Sunday's win against OU. Muoneke (14 kills) and Alyssa Worden (season-high 12 kills) led the Georgia offense on Sunday. Tori Harper put up a season-high nine blocks with seven kills. It was the most by a Bulldog in 2026. Kendal Kemp topped the 500-career block mark in the match. Georgia's 14 total blocks were a season best for the team.
Coaching Connection
Alabama head coach Rashinda Reed wore the Red & Black from 2002 to 2004, graduating in 2005 with her degree in Psychology. Reed led the Bulldogs in blocks in 2002 and 2003. The Bulldogs made an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2004 at Georgia Tech.
On a Roll
Georgia has won eight straight matches entering this week's matches. The last time the Bulldogs pushed a win streak to eight was 2016. This is Georgia's longest win streak under Tom Black. The previous longest streak was seven in 2018, Black's second season. Georgia last won nine straight matches in 1995 when it won 11 in a row.
Defend The Steg
Georgia has gone undefeated at home in 2026, starting 8-0 at Stegeman Coliseum. This is Georgia's best start at home since 2019 when the Bulldogs opened 7-0 at The Steg. Before that, Georgia opened the home schedule with 10-straight wins in 2013.
Harper Named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Tori Harper was named the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 5. Harper led the Bulldog block against Arkansas and OU, helping guide Georgia to a 2-0 week, and lengthening the Bulldogs' win streak to eight matches. Harper co-led the team with six blocks, tying a personal season high, against Arkansas on Friday, Oct. 2, then recorded a new season-best nine (1 solo, 8 assists) against Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 4. That mark is the most by a Bulldog in 2026 and ties for sixth-most by a Bulldog in a four-set match. As a team, Georgia had 14.0 blocks against the Sooners, also a team season best. The Reno native totaled 15 blocks over the weekend, averaging 1.88 per set. On the offensive side of the ball, she tallied 12 total kills and served up a pair of aces in the Oklahoma match.
Tom Black Notches 400th Career Win
Head Coach Tom Black earned his 400th career victory as a head coach on Sunday, Oct. 4. Black is the fourth-winningest active head coach in the SEC behind Jerritt Elliott at Texas, Craig Skinner at Kentucky, and Ryan Theis at Florida.
Muoneke Becomes Latest Member of Georgia's 1,000-Point Club
Senior Bianna Muoneke recorded the 1,000th point of her UGA career on Oct. 2 against Arkansas. She tipped the 1,000-kill mark in her career earlier in the season and is on track to be the next member of Georgia's 1,000 Kill Club.
Kemp Recorded 500th Career Block
Graduate middle blocker Kendal Kemp recorded the 500th block of her career in the match against Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 4. Kemp is the active carer leader in total blocks in any NCAA division and is second in blocks per set.
Bulldogs Getting Noticed
A total of four Bulldogs have earned six SEC weekly awards in 2026: Bianna Muoneke (two-time offensive), Gigi Artiles (two-time freshman), Chloe Elarton (setter), and Tori Harper (defensive). This ties the program record for individuals to win a player of the week award and is the first time Georgia has had an offensive, a defensive, a setter, and a freshman of the week in a single season. Georgia's six awards are the most since 2019 (7).
