Bulldogs Travel to Madison for Nuttycombe Invite

MADISON, Wis. — Georgia men's and women's cross country teams are set to travel to Madison, Wis., for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin, on Friday at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
The No. 26-ranked men will go up against their toughest test of the season. Friday morning 17 ranked teams are set to compete including No. 1 New Mexico, No. 2 Iowa State, No. 6 Colorado, No. 7 BYU, No. 8 Wake Forest, No. 10 Florida, No. 11 Northern Arizona, No. 12 Wisconsin, No. 13 Washington, No. 15 Stanford, No. 16 Arkansas, No. 17 Washington State, No. 18 Michigan State, No. 19 Harvard, No. 21 Butler, No. 22 Tennessee and No. 23 Eastern Kentucky.
The women will compete against 17 ranked teams, including No. 3 Northern Arizona, No. 4 New Mexico, No. 5 Iowa State, No. 8 Oklahoma State, No. 9 West Virginia, No. 11 Stanford, No. 13 Florida, No. 14 Utah, No. 16 Colorado, No. 17 Washington State, No. 19 Missouri, No. 20 Toledo, No. 21 Minnesota, No. 22 Northwestern, No. 23 Washington, No. 24 Providence and No. 25 Clemson.
Georgia enters the meet after competing at the John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., on Sept. 19. The women finished 13th, while the men placed 15th.
Sophomore Anastasia Nilsson and sophomore Addison Scott led the Bulldogs on the women's side, finishing 47th and 54th, respectively. Scott recorded a personal-best 21:13.4 in the 6K, while sophomore Maeve Waddell also posted a personal-best 21:51.1. Junior Ceyda Pinar and sophomore Madeleine Holland rounded out Georgia's scoring five.
On the men's side, senior duo Ryan Olree and senior Conner Rutherford led the Bulldogs, finishing 23rd and 30th, respectively. Freshman Bertold Kalasz, freshman Alex Lennon and freshman Jameson Pifer completed Georgia's scoring five.
Senior Valentin Soca will make his Bulldog debut this weekend fresh off two gold medal finishes in both the 1500m and 5000m races at the South American Championships.
