Javelin Trio Leads Six Bulldog Qualifiers For Eugene At NCAA East Regional On Thursday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Six Bulldogs punched their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday, highlighted by top-six performances by three women's javelin throwers at the NCAA East Regional. Additionally the Bulldogs clocked seven advancing times on the track to set up strong qualifying opportunities for Saturday.

Kelsie Murrell-Ross will lead off the day for the Bulldogs in the women's shot put at 10 a.m. on Friday after the event was postponed due to rain on Thursday. The Bulldog men will conclude competition at the NCAA East Regional on Friday with Ian Hodge, Eddie Kurjak, and Riyon Rankin opening Georgia's field events in the high jump at 2:30 p.m. The men's 4x100-meter relay team will kick off the running events at 5 p.m.

- Stephanie Ratcliffe placed second in the hammer throw to open the day on Thursday, recording a throw of 67.13 meters/220 feet, 3 inches on her second attempt to punch her ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
- Nikolai van Huyssteen cleared 5.43m/17-9.75 in the pole vault on his second attempt, taking second place and advancing to Eugene. He was one of five pole vaulters to clear the mark, which surpassed the previous facility record of 5.41m/17-9.
- Alex Kolesnikoff booked his trip to Nationals with a throw of 18.84m/61-9.75 in the shot put, placing 11thto qualify for the Oregon-hosted meet. Kolesnikoff recorded the mark on his second attempt.
- Three Bulldogs placed in the top six of the women's javelin to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene. Manuela Rotundo led the way in third place with a mark of 55.88m/183-4 on her third attempt. Lianna Davidson finished fifth with a mark of 53.37m/175-1, which also came on her final attempt. Erin McMeniman opened her competition with a 53.14m/174-4 to place sixth.
- Kaila Jackson and Reign Redmond both qualified for the 100m quarterfinals, placing third and 18th in the first round, respectively, to advance to the next round. Jackson clocked a season-best 11.00 to win her heat while Redmond moved to sixth in program history with her personal-best time of 11.28.
- Dejanea Oakley and Aaliyah Butler clocked the two fastest times in the 400m first round, crossing the finish line in 51.15 and 51.21, respectively, to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals. Both Bulldogs won their respective heats to automatically qualify.
- Michelle Smith posted a time of 55.85 to win her heat in the 400m hurdles, running the No. 2 time overall to advance to Saturday's quarterfinal round.
- The Bulldogs concluded the day with two sprinters advancing in the 200m. Kaila Jackson posted a time of 23.02 for eighth place in the first round while Sanaa Frederick clocked a 23.23 to finish 14th.
