Fick Finishes Runner-Up In Decathlon At 44 Farms Team Invitational

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas --- Senior Jordan Fick tallied a personal-best 7,598 points to place second in the decathlon as the Bulldogs wrapped up competition at the 44 Farms Team Invitational on Saturday.

Fick finished in the top five of each of his five individual events on Saturday to clinch a runner-up finish overall. The senior opened the day with a pair of fifth-place results, recording a 14.68 (W+3.7) in the 110-meter hurdles and a top throw of 36.30 meters/119 feet, 1 inch in the discus. He then posted a pair of personal bests in the pole vault (4.80m/15-9) and javelin (54.06m/177-4) to finish second and third, respectively. Fick wrapped up his day with a fourth-place showing in the 1,500m with a time of 4:36.82.
Fick finished just 56 points shy of cracking the Georgia all-time top-10 list in his first decathlon as a Bulldog.
Junior Ella Rush wrapped up her heptathlon in 10^th place, tallying 5,217 points. She competed in three events on Saturday, leaping 5.73m/18-9.75 to finish 11^th in the long jump to open the day before recording a top throw of 29.08m/95-5 in the javelin (21^st). She recorded her best individual result of the seven-discipline event in the 800m, clocking a personal-best time of 2:19.58 to finish fifth.
