LAST MEETING: The GymDogs last competed against the Tigers in February of the 2024 season where Georgia fell 197.625 – 197.075.

The Georgia GymDogs will travel to Baton Rouge, La. to take on the No. 2 LSU Tigers this Friday at 8:00 p.m., ET in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, streaming on SECN+.

DEFENDING THE STEG
The Georgia Gymnastics team's victory over Kentucky marked the first time since 2017 that the program has remained undefeated at home for the first four meets of the season. So. Lily Smith clinched the win for the Bulldogs, anchoring on floor to a 9.925 and matching the team's season high of 49.450 in the event. Smith also met her career and season highs on beam with a 9.950 against the Wildcats, capturing first place on the apparatus.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING
The GymDogs broke into the top 10 of the Road to Nationals rankings for the first time since the 2020 season, based on NQS, coming in at No. 9 on week eight. The now No. 10 Georgia team also places sixth among SEC competitors.

The Bulldogs competed a season-high 197.350 in Missouri followed by a 197.200 against Kentucky, making it their fourth straight week to pass the 197.000 benchmark. The team now has an NQS of 197.065 overall.

SUCCESS ON THE FOUR INCH STAGE
The Bulldogs' seventh meet brought immense accomplishment on the beam rotation, leading the team to capture a new season high of 49.550 in the event. This score ties for the fifth highest single meet beam score in Georgia Gymnastics history, making it the highest team score in the event since the 2019 season.

This success was championed by So. Anya Turner who secured a 9.975, earning the honor of SEC Specialist of the Week for her career-high routine. Turner also captured the highest individual routine score received by any GymDog in any event this season on the beam in Missouri.

THE RACE TO A PERFECT 10
Going into Georgia's eighth meet of the season, no GymDog has captured the elusive perfect 10 in 2025. So. Anya Turner has come close, earning a 9.975 on the beam as well as So. Lily Smith who has soared near on the beam, bars and floor with 9.950s in the three events. Many other Bulldogs are hungry for a 10, including So. Ady Wahl on bars, Fr. Brooke Gleichowski on beam and Fr. Nyla Aquino on floor who have each secured 9.950 scores as well.

THE BEAM QUEEN IS BACK
Junior Kara Eaker returned to the beam in Athens to represent the Bulldogs for the first time, helping Georgia to a then-season-high of 196.975 overall against Alabama, capturing their first win over the opponent since 2021

Eaker, of Kansas City, Mo., won the beam crown with a 9.925 routine. The Alabama meet was Eaker's first time competing since 2023 after stepping away from the sport to be an advocate for mental health in athletics. After five season routines, the junior has an average of 9.900 on the beam.

NEW HEIGHTS
Freshman Brooke Gleichowski returned to her hometown of Gainesville, Fla. to represent the Bulldogs and came back to Athens with a crown. The beam specialist's 9.950 set a career high in Florida.

SCOTT CONTINUES THE MOONWALK
Sophomore JaFree Scott's beam routine features assumed the Georgia moonwalk tradition. She is the eighth GymDog to perform the moonwalk on the balance beam, following Nikki Childs, Cassidy McComb, Lindsey Cheek, Mary Beth Box, Morgan Reynolds, Sabrina Vega, and Soraya Hawthorne.

OLYMPIANS AMONG US
Co-head coach Cecile Canqueteau-Landi and assistant coach Marissa King are both former Olympians.

Canqueteau-Landi competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics for France and King competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics for Great Britain.

Canqueteau-Landi has also coached in three athletes at three Olympic games- Madison Kocian in 2016 in Rio and Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles in 2020 in Tokyo and 2024 in Paris.

Additionally, Csenge Bacskay competed on vault for Hungary at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

AMERICA'S COACH
One-third of the gymnasts in the 2024 USA Olympic Trials were coached by Georgia co-head coach Cecile Canqueteau-Landi.  She coached nearly half of the 2024 USA Olympic team, including alternates.

Co-head coach Cecile Canqueteau-Landi has coached three Olympians to 11 medals across three Olympic Games.

NEW FACES AT THE HELM
For the first time in program history, the GymDogs have co-head coaches beginning in the 2025 season.  Hall of Fame USA Gymnastics coach Cecile Canqueteau-Landi and Ryan Roberts – who has spent the past six seasons as an assistant coach at Alabama and Georgia –were named co-head coaches of the University of Georgia gymnastics program by J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Josh Brooks on April 25, 2024.

The pair then hired Oleksii Koltakov and Marissa King as assistant coaches after both spent the previous two seasons as assistants at Nebraska.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
The 2025 Georgia roster features 10 newcomers, including three transfers.
