BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Georgia Gymnastics team will compete this Saturday in Session I of the 2025 SEC Gymnastics Championships at 3:30 p.m., ET in Legacy Arena at the BJCC. The Bulldogs' Session I competitors include No. 8 Kentucky, No. 12 Auburn and No. 13 Alabama, with Session II showcasing No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Florida and No. 7 Missouri.Â

LAST MEETING:Â The GymDogs hosted the Cats in Athens this season for their latest match up where Georgia narrowly stole the win 197.200 - 197.150.Â

REGULAR SEASON ROUND-UPÂ
The GymDogs finished out the regular season with a bang, posting a season high 197.975 against Oklahoma, the sixth highest regular season meet score in program history and the highest score of its kind since 2009.Â

The team earned season highs on bars (49.575), floor (49.675) and vault (49.350). Notably, So. Lily Smith and Fr. Nyla Aquino both secured a season high 9.975 at the meet, Smith on bars and Aquino on floor, to win their respective events. Fr. Aquino also captured a career high 9.950 to win the vault rotation.Â

The Bulldogs competed a season-high 197.975 against Oklahoma, their sixth straight week to pass the 197.000 benchmark. The team now has an NQS of 197.210 and average of 197.063.

HISTORY IN THE MAKINGÂ
The GymDogs broke into the top 10 of the Road to Nationals rankings for the first time since the 2020 season, based on NQS, coming in at No. 9 in week eight. Georgia has remained in the top 10 since and heads into the SEC Gymnastics Championships at No. 10, seeded at No. 6 in the conference.Â

THE RACE TO A PERFECT 10Â
Going into Georgia's eleventh meet of the season, no GymDog has captured the elusive perfect 10 in 2025. So. Anya Turner, So. Lily Smith, and Fr. Nyla Aquino have all neared, securing a 9.975 on beam, bars and floor, respectively.

DEFENDING THE STEGÂ
The Georgia Gymnastics team's victory over Kentucky marked the first time since 2017 that the program has remained undefeated at home for the first four meets of the season.Â

So. Lily Smith clinched the win for the Bulldogs, anchoring on floor to a 9.925 and matching the team's then season high of 49.450 in the event. Smith also met her career and season highs on beam with a 9.950 against the Wildcats, capturing first place on the apparatus.Â

SUCCESS ON THE FOUR INCH STAGEÂ
The Bulldogs' seventh meet brought immense accomplishment on the beam rotation, leading the team to capture a new season high of 49.550 in the event. This score ties for the fifth highest single meet beam score in Georgia Gymnastics history, making it the highest team score in the event since the 2019 season.Â

This success was championed by So. Anya Turner who secured a 9.975, earning the honor of SEC Specialist of the Week for her career-high routine.

THE BEAM QUEEN IS BACKÂ
Junior Kara Eaker returned to the beam in Athens to represent the Bulldogs for the first time, helping Georgia to capture their first win over Alabama since 2021.

Eaker won the beam crown with a 9.925 routine. The Alabama meet was Eaker's first time competing since 2023 after stepping away from the sport to be an advocate for mental health in athletics. After seven season routines, the junior has an average of 9.886 with a season high 9.925.Â

SCOTT CONTINUES THE MOONWALKÂ
Sophomore JaFree Scott's beam routine features assumed the Georgia moonwalk tradition. She is the eighth GymDog to perform the moonwalk on the balance beam, following Nikki Childs, Cassidy McComb, Lindsey Cheek, Mary Beth Box, Morgan Reynolds, Sabrina Vega, and Soraya Hawthorne.Â

OLYMPIANS AMONG USÂ
Co-head coach Cecile Canqueteau-Landi and assistant coach Marissa King are both former Olympians. Canqueteau-Landi competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics for France and King competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics for Great Britain. Canqueteau-Landi has also coached in three athletes at three Olympic games- Madison Kocian in 2016 in Rio and Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles in 2020 in Tokyo and 2024 in Paris. Additionally, Csenge Bacskay competed on vault for Hungary at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

AMERICA'S COACH
One-third of the gymnasts in the 2024 USA Olympic Trials were coached by Georgia co-head coach Cecile Canqueteau-Landi. She coached nearly half of the 2024 USA Olympic team as well.
