Bulldogs Register Program Record 19 Aces in Five Set Loss to Washington

BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Georgia volleyball team dropped a five-set thriller to the Washington Huskies Saturday afternoon at the CU Events Center (25-18, 23-25, 25-16, 23-25, 12-15).

Georgia set a rally scoring record with 19 service aces in the match, led by seven from graduate Sophie Fischer.

Prior to Saturday's match, the Georgia Athletic Association announced 10K Day at Georgia Volleyball, set for Oct. 11 when the Bulldogs host South Carolina at Stegeman Coliseum. Giveaways, UGA student prizes, a Block Party for all fans, and more were announced. Read more: https://gado.gs/c2k.

Four Georgia hitters topped double-digit kills: Fischer (15), Bianna Muoneke (13), Ceci Gooch (12, career high), and Erykah Lovett (11).
Georgia's rally scoring record 19 service aces came by way of career bests from Fischer (7) and Erykah Lovett (6). Bailey Cox added three while a trio of others had one each.
Lovett tallied 11 kills and 21 digs for her second double-double. Her 21 digs tied a career best and was the third 20-dig match of her career.
Senior setter Clara Brower picked up her second double-double in as many matches, dishing out 48 assists with 13 digs.
Georgia hit .520 in the first set. With the set tied at 18, Georgia rolled on a seven-point run to win the opening frame.
Georgia trailed by as much as nine (18-9) in the second set and came back to tie it at 23, but fell in the end, 25-23.
