Georgia Outlasts Fresno State in Five Sets to Close Out Buffs Classic

BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Georgia volleyball team concluded play at the Buffs Classic with a five-set win over Fresno State on Sunday at the CU Events Center.

Sophie Fischer was named to the Buffs Classic All-Tournament Team.

Fast Facts

Three hitters topped the 10-kill mark led by season-high 18 from graduate Sophie Fischer. Sophomore Bianna Muoneke (16) and junior Estelle Haugen (16, season-high) joined Fischer in double digits.
Fischer recorded 10 blocks on defense, her first double-digit block match of the season, good enough for her first double-double of her graduate campaign. As a team, the Bulldogs tallied a season-high 13 blocks.
Senior Bailey Cox tallied a season-high 20 digs in the match, the seventh 20-dig match of her career.
Muoneke's third double-double came on 16 kills and a season-high 14 digs.
Georgia had to come back from down six (17-11) in the second set and won the frame 29-27 to tie up the match.
The closely contested match featured 28 ties and 14 lead changes in total.

Georgia will open its home schedule next weekend hosting the Classic City Clash at Stegeman Coliseum. The Bulldogs host Boston College, Jacksonville, and Utah Valley. Georgia begins tournament play Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Boston College.
