Bulldogs Exterminate Yellow Jackets, 77-69

November 16, 2024 | Men's Basketball

ATLANTA — The Georgia Bulldogs (4-0) defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-2), 77-69, on Friday night at the McCamish Pavilion. Four scorers saw double figures led by sophomore guard Silas Demary Jr.'s season-highs of 18 points and seven boards.

• With 14 points on the night, Asa Newell has now reached double figure scoring in each of his first four games as a Bulldog.
• The Bulldogs produced a team effort on the glass against Georgia Tech with five players totaling five or more rebounds in the game: A. Newell and Demary Jr. (7), Cain (6) Godfrey and Leffew (5).
• Junior forward RJ Godfrey put in a shift in the defensive paint, tallying a season-high three blocks on the night, one shy of his single game career high.

• The Bulldogs outscored the Yellow Jackets 46-28 in the paint, averaging a 20-point differential in their last two outings.

Key Quote:
"Great defensive performance, really physical game," head coach Mike White said. "I thought Georgia Tech did a lot of really good things. They wouldn't go away late. Lance Terry down the stretch was phenomenal. Our defense in the first 20, Chuck, was really, really good. To travel to an ACC opponent who is really difficult to defend and hold them to 19 on their home court speaks to what we could be as we continue to grow. This is a process. We go 3-of-18 from three and get one on the road against your rival. Speaks to the heart of this team."

Up Next:
The Bulldogs will return home for their next tilt as they face Alabama A&M on Tuesday, Nov. 19 with tipoff set at 7 p.m. ET at Stegeman Coliseum. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.
