Let's Recap
Georgia lengthened its win streak to five matches with a pair of road victories against Missouri last week. The Bulldogs held on to beat the Tigers in a close five-set battle on Friday afternoon before sweeping Missouri on Saturday to close the series. Senior Kacie Evans tallied a 4.38 kills/set average with a .338 hitting clip. In Saturday's sweep, Evans recorded 18 kills, 12 of which came in the second set alone, while hitting .500 in the match. Sophie Fischer continued her dominance at the net, putting up 16 blocks, averaging 2.00 per set. She also laid down 2.5 kills per set in the series.Â
Â
Fischer Earns Fourth SEC Weekly Award
For the fourth time in 2022, junior Sophie Fisher was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 31. Fischer continued her strong season at the net at Missouri, putting up 16 total blocks, averaging 2.00 per set. She began the series with 10 in five sets against the Tigers then put up six in Saturday's sweep at Hearnes Center. The last Bulldog to earn four SEC weekly awards was teammate Kacie Evans in 2019 when she picked up six weekly accolades from the league. Prior to Fischer, no Bulldog had been named Defensive Player of the Week more than once in a season.Â
Â
Aces Wild
Georgia has consistently had strong serving since Tom Black's arrival in Athens and 2022 has been no difference. Nationally, Georgia's 1.82 aces per set ranks 26th while checking in at second in the SEC. Georgia had a great series at the service line against Auburn, acing the Tigers 21 times in nine sets.Â
Â
Evans is Killing it
Kacie Evans' 4.00 kills per set ranks 42nd in the country and second in the SEC. She's third in the conference with a 4.74 points per set average, a clip that currently ranks 27th in the country.Â
Â
The Great Wall of Fischer
Sophie Fischer has propelled herself toward the top of the country ranking fifth and the top of the SEC with 1.55 blocks per set. Her 129 total blocks also leads the SEC. As a team, Georgia's 2.62 blocks per set ranks third in the SEC. Georgia's block defense has helped hold opponents to a .177 hitting clip, second best in the league. Offensively, Fischer's .337 hitting percentage is seventh in the SEC.Â

It was the first time Georgia had swept a ranked opponent since Nov. 27, 1993 (No. 12 Kentucky in the SEC Tournament in Birmingham). It was Georgia's first sweep of Florida since Oct. 20, 1989.Â
