QUICK KICKS
Series History
Sunday's matchup is the second all-time meeting between Georgia and Belmont. In the previous meeting, the two sides played to a scoreless draw on Sept. 5, 2019 in Nashville.
Â
Putting Up Numbers
Through three games, the Georgia attack ranks second in the nation with 14 goals, tying them with SEC rival Tennessee. The 14 goals mark the most in program history through three games, surpassing the 13 tallied in both 2000 and 2005. With 4.67 goals per game, the scoring offense ranks seventh nationally.
Â
Belisle Making Noise
With four goals, graduate forward Mollie Belisle sits third in the nation and tops in the SEC. Belisle has already posted two-goal games twice this season: Campbell and Georgia State. With 13 career scores, Belisle holds the career lead among active Georgia players.
Â
Sharing is Caring
Through three matches, Georgia ranks seventh nationally in total assists with 13, also ranking first in the SEC. Seniors Abby Boyan and Dani Murguia also lead the league in assists with three apiece. In total, eight different Bulldogs have notched at least one assist in the opening stretch of the season.
Â
Thursday Firsts
In the 6-1 win over Georgia State, senior midfielder Bella Ponzi scored her first career goal with a header in the 68th minute. In other career firsts, freshman goalkeeper Liz Beardsley made her first appearance in the second half, making a diving save on a GSU free kick. Additionally, fellow freshmen Ellie Gilbert and Morgan Hart posted their first career assists.
Â
Run of Consistency
Thanks to a quartet of Bulldogs, the Georgia starting lineup has remained remarkably consistent. Graduate defender Kayla Bruster has started in 63 consecutive appearances, while seniors Abby Boyan (55), Bella Ponzi (53), and Cecily Stoute (53) have also continued streaks of their own. With her start against Georgia State, senior goalkeeper Emory Wegener joined the "50 Club."
