BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas, ---  The No. 2 University of Georgia equestrian team fell to No. 5 Texas A&M, 13-6, on Friday at the Hildebrand Equine Center.

Sophomore Sophia Pilla earned her second Most Outstanding Player honor this season after defeating her opponent by 7.5 points, scoring a 87 for her ride.

"I am proud of Sophia Pilla for winning her first MOP on the road with a beautiful ride against a conference opponent," Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. "Unfortunately there were a lot of places that we got beat. We have to close those gaps and come out ready to compete tomorrow. We have an opportunity to get better tomorrow, which we are grateful to have."

Competition began in Flat with the Bulldogs (1-2, 0-2 SEC) winning three points. Sophia Pilla put Georgia on the board with a 87-79.5 win, before Nora Andrews followed with a score of 85 to top her opponent. Texas A&M took the next point and then Jordan Toering bettered her counterpart's score, 76-69.5.  The Aggies won the final Flat point.

Meanwhile, the rides resulted in close matchups in Reining.  The Aggies won the first three points of the event, before Courtney Blumer pushed her point with a score of 66.5. Texas A&M took the last Reining point as well.

The Aggies held a 6-3 lead at the half way point of the meet.

Texas A&M rode to a 3-2 advantage in Fences.  Hayley Mairano started the event by edging her opponent, 78-77.  The Aggies won the next two points, before Jordan Toering scored an 85 to add to the Bulldogs' total.

Georgia claimed one point in Horsemanship.  Sara Lewis led off by topping Hayley Riddle, 74.5-74.  Texas A&M won the final four points of the meet.
