Bulldogs’ Winning Streak Snapped at Texas A&M, 3-0

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Georgia women's volleyball team saw its six-match winning streak come to an end with a three-set loss at the hands of Texas A&M Sunday at Reed Arena (16-25, 20-25, 21-25).
Senior setter Meghan Donovan recorded her eighth double-double of the season, handing out 25 assists and picking up 11 digs. Freshman Kacie Evans led the offense for the Bulldogs with eight kills while also tallying seven digs on the day. Five total Bulldogs recorded five or more kills in the loss including six from junior Kianna Young in her home state. Junior Kaylah House recorded five kills on nine attempts for a team-best .556 hitting clip.
Georgia (15-5, 7-2) opened the match going ahead 3-0 but Texas A&M (14-5, 6-3) quick tied the set then the teams began exchanging points. Tied at 10, the Aggies went on a 4-1 run, prompting a timeout from the Georgia bench, 14-11. Following the timeout, the Aggies widened their lead to five, 19-14, as Georgia asked for its second timeout. The Aggies wrapped up the first set on an 8-2 run to win the set 25-16. Sophomore Kayla Rivera tallied three kills in the first set.
Much of the second set was a back-and-forth battle. Tied at 17, Texas A&M won three-straight rallies to find a three-point lead and force Georgia's second timeout of the set. The Aggies used the late run to win the stanza and take a 2-0 lead in the match, 25-20. At the end of the second set, Evans led the Georgia attackers with six kills.
Texas A&M jumped out to an early lead and despite the Bulldogs hanging in, the Aggies kept them at bay. Down 15-12, the Bulldogs scored three-straight to tie the set. Georgia was able to tie it again at 19 all thanks to a Kendall Glover ace. Once again tied, this time at 20, the Aggies rattled off a 5-1 run to secure the sweep of the Bulldogs.
Up next, Georgia hosts the Arkansas Razorbacks Wednesday at 8 p.m. First serve on SEC Network is slated for 8 p.m. from Stegeman Coliseum.
