Georgia Caps Weekend with Oklahoma Sweep

Georgia uses three sets to defeat Oklahoma
ATHENS, Ohio – The Georgia volleyball team (6-1) overtook Oklahoma (1-5) in straight sets in its final match of the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Bulldogs went 2-1 on the weekend after defeating host Ohio on Friday before dropping its only sets of the season to High Point in the evening match. The Saturday venture showcased freshman Rachel Ritchie placing a team-high 17 kills with three aces in the 25-16, 26-24, 25-18 Georgia victory.
The Bulldogs accumulated six aces and nine blocks as a team, with four blocks coming from Majesti Bass and Anna Kate Karstens, respectively. Bass also collected 10 kills while hitting .615, and Ceasar recorded 12 kills of her own.
In the first set, Georgia strung together five-straight points to break the match open 17-10, featuring back-to-back service aces from Ritchie and a pair of kills from T'ara Ceasar.
Trailing by five in the second set, the Bulldogs chipped away at the Oklahoma lead until Georgia came back to command a 20-16 margin. The Sooners evened the set at 24, but a kill apiece from Kendall Kazor and Ritchie sealed the 26-24 final.
After jumping to a 2-0 edge in the third set with another Ritchie kill and a Cassidy Anderson service ace, Georgia controlled the lead for the remaining 25-18 third frame.
Georgia continues its play on the road at the Davidson Wildcat Classic next weekend. The Bulldogs will face Davidson, Wofford and Florida Gulf Coast in games on Friday and Saturday.
